If you live in Manitoba why on earth would you not look at one of the Canadian, locally built boilers right there in Manitoba

AS for fill valve, a simple ball valve attatched to any domestic water line that tees into your wood boiler loop will be fine but here is a tip, when you tee into the line put a ball valve on each side of the tee so that you can feed water in either direction back to the boiler, this is very helpful in eliminating air in the underground lines as the water will force the air back to the boiler.

Exactly right Do Not put the unit inside of the garage for a few reasons. Smoke will be a problem, Fire hazard, what happens when you need to replace the unit. Cover your wood not your OUTDOOR wood boiler.

Probably the most widely used aquastat in the market and most reliable would be the A-419 from Jonson controls, you can get it at any plumbing supply house for around $65.00, it is adjustable to within 1 degree, easy to wire, multple functions, available in 24 volt ac or 120 volt ac, if you use the 120 volt there will be no need for any relay, you should however put a 3/4 inch port into the boiler for the well to accept the temp probe, well is not supplied with the aquastat but the probe is.

I cannot speak for your manufacturer but we do not suggest any other pre treatment on our boilers other than the boiler treatment that we supply with the sale, I would suggest however that you flush the boiler and lines to get rid of any solids that may have gotten into the lines or boiler in shipping or installation, then fill with water / treatment, run the circs for at least a few hours to mix it well then take your sample, we ask that you send samples for our boilers to us and we do the analysis and then we get back to our customers to let them know if any more treatment is needed as no two water supplies are the same. Best of luck let me know if there is any thing that we can do for you, you are in the right place to ask questions and thanks for burning wood.  Richard@PM

In my area of the northeast, Ace hardware sells a product called Spray nine fireplace cleaner, their item # is 15022, most of them will stock it but you may be better off $ wise to use their website and order it by the case, have it delivered to the local store to save shipping charges. it works great but you will use quite a bit to clean your boiler well. Does not seem to damage paint as well so you can keep the outside looking good.

They do work well, however if you are concerned about noise or energy consumed you may want to look at a nice cast iron radiator, they are very nice to look at,heat like a wood stove, not hot enough to burn a child, don't take up a lot of space, dry your boots or wet jacket on it and use no extra power. There is a company here in Maine that recycles old ones out of the city, ceaned, painted and pressure checked, if you are interested PM me.

Yeah Rehau is a good pipe as well ,and most of those jobs that are being done with their pipe is payed for by the American taxpayer, think about it, five years ago my supply house quoted me the price (wholesale) of Rehau at $26 per foot for comparible pipe to Urecons dual pex flex, I sell Urecon locally for $14 per foot delivered (and that is something else to consider as it takes up a lot of space on the truck), Shipping typically costs around 500-1000 dollars per roll regardless of how long a run you require as it still takes up 2 pallet spaces on the truck. Not saying that maybe somebody is padding their pockets on those big jobs but it's only money! Gotta get ready for the logging expo in Bangor, Me. I'll bring my laptop and camera for those who can't be there and I won't forget my sample bag of the best pipe on the market.  Richard @ PM

Hey Arthur, remember me Richard from Maine, let me ask you a question, why did we have 8 out of 25 boilers that I sold for you go to crap in a matter of a few years, many not even making it through two winters and then when it came to your 30 year warranty, well we all know what that paper is good for. I still have people pissed at me for selling them that peice of crap. I sincerely wish that I had never met you or your partner Dave M. as you have not only damaged my reputation and cost me lots of money/time but more importantly you have cost a lot of families ( who actually believed in your products and your word ) much more than that, most of those affected bought your product because they could not afford to continue with oil and they looked at it as an investment, ( some investment )

Sorry to hear of your troubles, I used to sell for them before the 5000 was built, I saw it coming and moved on. As for your problems, what I have done in the past is put a torch to the creosote and burn it off, nasty job but it works. as for the seal, the best that I have used is the stuff they sell at the hardware store or stove shop that cleans creosote from glass,( mostly made up of amonia ) If you have problems with parts then PM me and I think I still have the contact info for both of the factories, Warranty is useless but they will try to help with parts, they really are decent people, their problem was the distributor and his evil ways.

OK guys run what you like, I know what I went through when I put the cheap stuff in the ground that the dealer talked me into. I will not sell it to my customers.
