General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: How to determine how many BTU I need
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:25:08 AM »
It's hard to say. The BTU of a unit does not have anything to do with how large a house/shop it could heat. My CB 4436 is rated at 250K BTU but it could not heat a 5K sqft house. Well it might but woould need wood added every four hours. How many sqfeet are you wanting to heat? What units are you looking at?

If the wood is larger than 10inches I will split it once. I think it helps it to dry quicker.

Fire Wood / Re: outside wood boilers--How much wood so far ?
« on: March 28, 2008, 06:31:06 AM »
I seem to go through about 10 cord a year and I am about there now. I also burn pallets so its hard to get a good number when burning them, so 10 cord is a good guess.
