adding to my loop
« on: October 11, 2014, 08:52:27 PM »

So I got drunk with my neighbor and we bartered some electrical work for his water to air exchanger.   What would be the best way to zone this I could just add it to my return line and put the fan in the unit on a t stat.  Or should I zone it?  I am running 35 feet of 1" pex to the house, about 100 feet total in the house  I am running 1" everything about 80 feet of 1" pex and 20 feet of copper.  I have a few 90s  a 18 x 18 exchanger and a 20 plate. With 1" ports.  Can I just run another exchanger in my loop or do I need to zone this,  if needed I will run a second pump let me know what you think.  Thanks guys!

How many feet of pipe are you adding for the new heat exchanger?

Well maybe 10 feet tops I may even shorten my total length because part of my run is not strapped to the wall it's just flopping around my lower garage floor

It should be fine to just put it in series. You may need to go to a larger pump if your return temperature drops too much.

Speaking of temps do you sell temp gauges? My bumblebee I think is rated 1/20 hp.  15 gpm 15 head.  What size pump would I go up to?  I would like some temp gauges

Are you running the bumblebee on delta t mode? If you add the heat exchanger not between the sensors, it won't know to speed up.

I do have temperature gauges. What type are you looking for?

I had it on delta t mode but my sensors are on pex I don't know how well that was working. I have it set to high when the pump was on any lower speed it seemed to get air in the system I don't know how but it just didn't seem to work unless its on high.  Any temp gauges I would like one on my supply and return. I could install on pex or copper. I have 1" everything

If you use foil tape to attach sensor to pex you can get them fairly close. I usually go all the way around the pipe with the tape and get it as tight as possible and then insulate it good.

I will have to check on prices. Do you prefer analog gauge, digital or maybe something like this?  http://www.my-thermometer.com/index.htm

Analog is just fine.  People monitor their temps like that? Holy smokes that's crazy
