Air in water lines
« on: January 16, 2015, 07:19:42 AM »

Hi guys, just fired up a new BL2840 on 12/31/14, going trough 75' of logster into the basement then going into 1' copper. Problem is I have 190 on the auquastat and not over 160 on 2 guages in the basement. Getting a air noise in the pipes and pump, Taco 0010, I have an automatic air eleminator installed and have turned ball valves on and off since fired up, still think I have air in the lines. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get air out of the lines? I have also been told it just takes time, maybe it will come out of the fill spout on the boiler. Thanks for the input.

Filling the boiler through the underground lines, first on supply then on returns will eliminate any air pockets by pushing that air to the boiler and venting out the top

Slimjim, I have the same problem with my pump since I started it three weeks ago. The pump always has air in it. What would you suggest to get it out ?

Did you fill the boiler from the lines or through the top of the boiler?

Did you fill the supply line with the return valve shut off?

Close the return first and backfill through the supply, note the check valve must be removed from the circ first

The boiler is full right to the full line already. There is no air vents on the system because it is an open system.

Yes but with air in the supply line the circ will not push air back to the boiler, it will eventually kill your circ as air will get trapped there

I just installed a spirovent  jr down on the feed coming out of oil boiler feed to upstairs air handler no more bubbles noise or air so far it's so quiet down by the circulating pumps can't tell if there working, the fact is the hotter the water the more oxygen and gas will be given off in the system and this keeps it out of the system.i have a open direct plumbed system and never had a issue till I bumped the temp up to 192 for the high cut off. So on a closed system I guess install next to heat x changer before it,they say where the water hotter follow directions.

5050, I only have one question why do you have an Air Eliminator (SpiroVent JR) on an open loop system??  I have only every seen them installed in closed loop (Pressurized) systems, to help get rid of TINY dissolved bubbles
