General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / BTU and CFM formulas
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:58:51 PM »
There has been a lot of discussion about what is my cfm or btu output of my coil so here are the formulas: If cfm is known CFMx(T2-T1)x 1.08= BTU   T2=temperature of air leaving the coil  T1=temperature of air entering.     If BTU is known the formula works backwards  BTU/1.08x(T2-T1)=cfm  Note that these formulas are for air flow measurements only.

Plumbing / Smoke stack extension

I thought about extending the smoke stack on my Taylor to 20 feet or so just to get the smoke higher off the ground.  Anybody tried this and did you have any problems?

Plumbing / Plate heat exchanger questions
« on: January 09, 2012, 04:18:24 PM »
I have a twenty year old Taylor wood boiler that i have been rebuilding.  It came with a factory installed domestic coil and not knowing the condition of it, I opted to remove it in favor of the plate type heat exchanger.  My question is do plate heat exchangers supply a continuous supply of hot water for domestic use and what is the average temperature of the water.  Also what gpm pump are ya'll using that seems to work best.
