Yeah, that sure is a bugger, sorry to hear of such a thing. It sounds like rigging may have been the culprit and "maybe" PPE could have made a difference. Whatever occurred and why, it is a bad result. SAFETY FIRST AT ALL TIMES.

By default, everyone gets my respect until they prove unworthy of it. Slim, your childish disrespect of another member shows what you are. Just so ya know.

Who in the heck said anything about Hate, I think that we all know where I stand on big government stealing our tax dollars to line the pockets of it's chosen ones. This nation was founded as a David to protect it's citizens from the Goliath's of the world with LIBERTY and JUSTICE for all, it is the progressive minded such as yourself KNEEL that have consistently stolen our money and LIBERTY to become the Goliath of the world.

The truth is that both political parties share our tax dollars with their select groups. I would definitely argue who has done the most damage there.

And it is not just the government, but also the bigshots who line the pockets of politicians for returns later, and smaller folks too. Gotta share this.

The most vocal man about taxation in this neighborhood, turns out to be a slug. The dirty bagger has been (for years) hiding income and making false and questionable deductions to allow him and his family to take government welfare and medical insurance. Meanwhile the ****** takes annual vacations in a diesel motor home to distant states, has waaayyyy more toys than I, and gets government handouts that my meager taxes support. A proud republican he claimed to be. Now, while I and many other of his neighbors contribute our fair share to both state and federal taxing agencies, he has ceased his rantings (since being outed) that were nothing but a smoke screen anyway. That slug has been using our money all the while crying about IRS. The truth is, he makes good money without cheating.

The average joe taxpayer gets jacked by all kinds of slugs, not just the government. Big oil, big war, 3rd generation welfarers, cheaters, con artists, tax dodgers, weak minds who claim their problem is a weak back and on and on.

Just because a lie will get you government money does NOT make it the right thing to do. That money comes from the pockets of your friends, neighbors and relatives.

Check out a few pages of the great and powerful health care program. If you get to the ripe old age of seventy-five and get cancer good luck to you because thats all you will get. This must be the way they are going to balance their budget, by killing off all the old people.

Hello ijon:

thanks for your post. I would like to see what you are talking about, could you reference a page number or whatever that will direct us to that information.

I always thought of heroes as someone acting at a point of imminent danger. The current dangers that Snowden has involved himself in exposing are more erosional, but still a very serious issue. Even though I believe I have nothing to hide does not mean it is ok to spy into my life. Even things that we consider benign can be spun by others as BAD and used against us by a differing ideology.

Would you risk everything you have here today to challenge your government?

Allegations of "Treason" against an American citizen who revealed the constitutional violations of several agencies of the United States Government against its own citizens.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: secondary burn tubes
« on: May 26, 2014, 02:48:26 PM »
That is a questionable modification. If the materials used in the original construction are capable of withstanding the higher temps, that might be possible. I experimented with secondary combustion in an old wood stove that I had modified into a sandbox heat sink with copper tubing in the sand to capture the heat and send to emitters.

In this case secondary air inlets were directed into a chambered stove-top flue. The sandbox was around and above this secondary combustion area. It worked great at secondary combustion and achieved temps above 1400 F. However, and this is important, the sheet steel construction of the stove could not tolerate the high temps and fatigued to a dangerous level quite rapidly.

I would think the engineers who worked on the design of your boiler did not plan it as a gasification boiler or it would be one. It sounds very risky to attempt something likes this inside your home. The possible loss of structure, loved ones, and loss of insurance coverage due to your modifications is nothing to take lightly.

Anyway, I thought it to be humorous that the XL appeared just prior to long bed making for one looooooonnnngg bed truck. I like my Ford products good enough. I've been fortunate enough to own one from just about every automaker and think they all do an acceptable job these days. Us old duffers remember the days without padded dashboards, seatbelts, galvanized sheetmetal, radial tires and such. These new ones sure have morphed from the past. Anyone ever had one fall over while using the stock ratcheting jack they all came with? Or off in the distance ya hear a thump, thump, thump coming your way and from experience know what's next.......Bang...Funny how folks would just keep going with their tube beating against the fender. And in the rust belt those big fenders would flap in the wind with bailing wire or a coat hanger keeping it tied to the rig..........

Yeah they all make a good enough product. Heated mirrors and seats, tv screens in the seats, talking maps and on and on..........

I see that Sloppy_Snood and I both have 1996 3/4 ton trucks. Looks like he has the extra long bed model, mine is only 8 footer.

Including the cost of 20 cords of log load oak, boiler (indoor gasser) and system components (self install) the break even will be just under 4 years. After that it will average $360 per year if purchasing logs, compared to $1700 for average propane usage previously. Or free if logging my trees. Just as others, I now keep a constant 70 instead of propane 65. Very happy using zero propane for heat this passed winter, probably woulda cost $2100 at prepay pricing plus the additional needed.

Free wood or free sunshine sounds good to me. Add some free moonshine to that and we'll all be ok!

I have seen many posts by that member crying about he pays too much. After his statement declaring us enemies, I chose to say what I feel about greedy all about my pocketbook type of a person. I am about the good of the whole rather than what is best for my pocketbook, when all are doing well, I do well right along side them.

I do understand that there is much waste in our governments. Until we decide to stand up to those who are controlling Washington, we will spend money to make a few richer while researching for a bridges worthiness. It is not our government, it is those with the purse strings who control government. I pay your campaign so much and you make sure I get this contract to do this that or the other. Corporate America has no business playing monopoly with our government.

Well then. Anyone who is so quick to establish enemies is no one for me to associate with.

Enjoy the remainder of your life and all that comes with it. The infrastructure to do your business, the military to protect you, the police, firefighters, communications, power lines, you know; everything that someone else has worked to establish for our use. And thank all of the other people who have been victimized by the government taxes that pays to support all of that.
