Haha wouldn't want to boil off all my water!!!! and the differential, would you keep that at 10 degrees during the fall/spring, and during the winter?

If that's what you recommend that is what I will do.  I am just learning this new system.

Portage & Main / set temp and differential on the BL series

Hey guys.  Got the BL 3444 running.  All is well.  I was just wondering from people who used them last year about set points and differentials depending on the time of year.  What works best for you guys.  Right now I am at 189 degrees with a 5 degree dif?  When it gets colder I was thinking of opening up the dif to 10 degrees or maybe more?  Does this make sense, what works for all of you?

I don't know????  That is why I am here?  It is an old boiler,  But I am just using it for the pump and the thermostat that are built into it.

The 2 things I can think slim.

I have a blockage or partial blockage somewhere in my baseboard heat.  Or I need to replace the airscoop, valve and expansion tank???  But those are just guesses.

That sucks Slim.  People will always try and knock other people down.  All it shows is you have a superior product and you are threat to him.

Can you lock the chip box?  that would be an easy solution.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Indoor boiler question
« on: October 05, 2014, 07:39:40 AM »
I know some of you are experts on this......  My indoor boiler which is heated via my p&m 3444 is giving me problems.  First issue is my pressure gauge is reading 39 psi at 180 degrees.  I think from what I have read that is to high?? Also The only way I can get it to pump water to my upstairs zones is to have my pump on level 3 (high).

Any thoughts?

The Pipe came from Hawkin.  It is what they sell as there underground.  Beyond that I have no idea where it came from.  I may replace it in the next few years.  But right now it is what I am dealing with.

Thanks Slim,  That is what I need.   What kind of connection is it(crimp, shark, compression?).

I am assuming you mean Ruth at the P&M office in Canada?

I plumbed the back of my wood boiler in with 1" copper.  My plan was to just connect the copper directly to my underground pipe via sharkbite.  Unfortunately my underground is Pex-al-pex,  The sharkbite will not work on the Pex-al-pex because of its larger diameter.

How can I hook my copper to my Pex-al-pex??????????? :o

OK thanks LittleJohn.  That is what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure.

Slim which 4 ports are you talking about?  ON my system I have one 60 plate heat exchanger that handles all of the heat transfer.

Thanks Slim.  So start it out slow and if I am noticing a need for more heat in the house turn it up.
