« on: October 27, 2013, 06:56:30 PM »

I was wondering what kind of treatment yall guys put in yalls legends? Also wondering what kinda anode rod yuns use and what exactly does that rod do because I was wondering if I could just do away with it if it really don't serve a purpose.

I don't personally like anode rods but in theory they'll deteriorate before the stove....  However if proper chemical levels are maintained I don't see that as a problem.

What brand of chems does ur manufacturer recommend?

I'd just do what the manufacturer says, even though I think the anode rods are silly, it don't mean I'm right lol

I've had folks send me water samples here on the forum from stove that had anode rods and there water be completely full of anode rod particles that would settle to the bottom of a glass, the same thing had to be happening in there stoves, we sure dont want a layer of sediments coating the bottom of our water jackets.

I wouldn't doubt it, I've seen folk flush it out after years of use and be a lot of it come out.

Tanner,I get my boiler treatment and anode rod from my dealer I bought it from. It is called Legend boiler treatment, don't know who manufactures it. As for anode rod every year I drain my boiler, rinse it out and put new treatment in and replace the anode. I can tell you this every year when I replace the rod the only thing left is a stub. So I guess the rod is doing something!

Yea it just goes to nothing, the material it's made of deteriorates and corrodes very very easily.

I would say there treatment is made by wood boiler solutions

Yea that's kinda what I've been thinking. The boiler treatment is 34.18 a quart, it takes 3 for my boiler, and 23.44 for the anode rod. Quite a bit every year!!

Yea it's be much cheaper to test chems annually and go from there, as long as the chems are correct, that's what's important

Yea I just orderd the treatment n the rod and it was like 90 bucks I guess if that's al I had to spend a year it b fine but you throw a door gasket and maybe a few other things it would add up.
