General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Another OWB water temp question
« on: February 23, 2016, 08:55:37 PM »
It got up in the 50's today and I changed my diff to 3*.  I have found that much more than that will put out the fire.  A 10* diff in a warm spell means dead fire here.  My home is very well insulated and we don't use much hot water.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: explain this
« on: February 20, 2016, 08:34:57 PM »
Set a chair outside by the unit and watch/listen.  Mine did the same thing and here's what happened.  The wood I used was not completely dry and while the fan was restarting it, there was a small steam type explosion inside the burner.  It forced ash and coals back through the fans duct work into the fan and also around the flapper.  Once the furnace got to temp, the flapper was held open by a small piece of charcoal.

This was witnessed by watching the stove go thru its paces and when the flapper closed, the smoke continued to roll due to the air that was being pulled in through the rear duct work.  Good luck, and don't forget to put more water treatment in.

Isn't it funny that you seem to be the only person on here that has had a problem with Scott.
Too bad for me I guess, I did not choose to have a problem.  I hope all the best for Scott.

Why are you letting me live rent free in your brain?  Move on already skippy.  I'm over it.

Maybe your blistered fingers was Carma for being such a tool
Yea maybe so, and maybe your blistered tool is karma for your "lifestyle".

Very well put Sheperd boy, I could not have said it better myself!
As you are keenly aware from our correspondence below, the system was drawn up and incorrectly put in place according to Scott.  Maybe that is why he won't get back to me!   But it was nice of you to pile on me when you knew all of this already.

Scott made what I feel to be an honest mistake when he drew up my system,  after it had already been installed I appreciated your help in trying to remedy it.  I never told Scott about the design error, and now I wonder if the reason for him not returning my call is because you made him aware of it during your conversations with him?  Maybe he is just embarrassed about the mistake?   This makes more sense to me.

Make sure you don't bite the hand that feeds you even if the the food isn't perfect or on time, or it my not come at all next time. Call your dealer a fly by night and a few other choice words over a stuck damper and I don,'t think I'd call back either. And remember Heatmaster reads these forums too and if your really in trouble they may not want to get involved with a unreasonable situation. Helping out each other and blessing each other even in hard situations is grease that keeps things going.Bless Scott and give him a good word when life is busy and rough and he'll bust his tail for you.
I sure hope heatmaster reads this forum, because now I need to call on some other dealer that I didn't initially use for my home.  Maybe they could put a good word in for me as I have been nothing less than cordial with my old dealer, Scott.

I called him out, out of pure disgust long after I tried to get ahold of him for my problem.  It's nice to stick together and again, I understand family problems, but I used Scott who is 4 hours further away from my local dealer.

I didn't call on him for a "stuck damper", I called on him for what I thought was a leak.   A leaking firebox!  I still have yet to here from him and this is after several requests.   Now that I've called him out I doubt I'll here from him ever.  But he wasn't returning my calls when I counted.

I love my Stove and the deal that I got on it.  Fortunately I purchased a top line boiler,  I hope none of you are ever put in my position.

Pile on me if you want I really don't care.   I don't wish this on any of you, should your heater suffer catastrophic damage as I feared mine did.

Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure if he is around anymore or not, I did speak with him in the early spring and Marty is right, he was having some pretty serious family issues and was very busy.
"Very busy" and "Family issues" was never an excuse in our business!  Never.  I'm sorry for the family issues I can relate, but being too busy to handle Customers is not how you stay in business.  I was left out hanging by my dealer.

You can store btu's in an insulated slab in your basement.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: X 300 control by web

I had to look it up to see what it was.  Looks interesting.  How much is it?  How hard is it to mesh with your system?

bringing a slab to temp will burn a whole bunch, especially if the slab is not insulated properly.

During my over heating episode I removed the ash pan with heavy leather gloves only to realize it was white hot.  Ouch!

I think you will see a noticeable reduction in wood consumption.   I was thinking about putting a timer on my garage pump and just have it come on for 15-20 minutes every day.

Might still freeze, can you install a three way zone valve and leave the pump run all the time then use an aqua stat on the radiant loop to open the zone valve if the temp drops much into the 30’s?
Thats what I have now and with the bonus room above and cars coming in and out I don't need it.  I don't need a constantly warm garage.   I just want the floor a bit warm at night for the dogs kennels.

interesting, what if your system uses only one pump to circulate your hot water to your zones...this year I just wanna see how efficient the boiler is for a month without the heat on in the garage and bonus room above it that's all, come dec, then I wanna turn on those zones...just a lil experiment

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / 10,000e boil over/Leak..........UPDATE
« on: November 08, 2015, 09:48:55 AM »
Just looked out and saw steam boiling out of the water hole.  Ran out and shut down stove (fan wasn't running) and turned on all of the furnaces.  It was showing 210 on the thermometer.  Water has gone somewhere.  Looks like it sprung a leak?  I cooled it off filled it back up and can hear steam inside hissing.  Crap!

Pulled the ash pan out to look and it's sucking air like a jet engine.

I bought the stove from Scott7m. Does he still come here?  I left him a PM.

I shut the blower off and left the water pump running.  It's burning like it getting air from down under the ash pan, almost like the blower fan is on.  It's still hissing.

I have to add that the hot air molecules from my slab heat are keeping my 3rd floor at 44+degs :)
