General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / heat exchanger placement
« on: January 04, 2014, 04:38:43 AM »
Hello Everyone, quick question, i have a newer home and this is my second year in it, i have a heatmeaster 5000, everything works well, although i am alittle concerned that my heat exchanger is hooked up to the rear of the furnace, asked the guy why it was put there instead of in the basement furnace room, states that the furnace is lower then the home and if it was inside the heat exchanger would create air pockets. my furnace works well ,im just trying to fine tune things to make it work better and more efficiently...

Hello everyone, second year in the home, i ahve a heatmeaster 5000, everything runs good, now im just trying to make things better and more efficient, i have an approx 4000 sq feet home to heat including the garage and bonus room, although the garage and bonus room i only heat to 50 degrees ,the rest of the home is 74 degrees,my issue is this ,when two zones come on at the same time the temp gauge inside the home on my electric furnace drops low to almost 80 to 90 sometimes, i believe this is because i have in floor and cast iron rads and they consume large amounts of water, i dont like this happening as my furnace then has to work hard to get up to temp,so should i have a water resavoir and if so what are some good ideas on how to set it up..., thanks for all the help everyone.

Hello everyone, little problem, second year in my home, i have a heatmaster 5ooo, i have cast iron rads on my main floor, there is one rad that makes a large bang every time the heat cuts in and when it shuts off, everyone i speak with has a different opinion on what it is, and  no there is def no air in the system, the rad is seven feet long, pretty big one,no other rad makes any noise other then this one and each one is on its own loop, every plumber and heat guy has a solution, any good suggestions, the noise actually startles me in the middle of the night when the heat cuts in... thank everyone...

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / mixing valves
« on: September 30, 2013, 04:18:45 AM »
Hello all, another question, i have a heatmaster 5000, worked great last year ,no issues what soever, im still wrapping my head around the system, anyway, do u really need mixing valves , some heat guys say no, some say , omg you dont have any mixing valves, so heres my system, new home,3800 sq feet, true in floor heating in basement and gargage, in truss heating in bathroom and kitchen, all other loops are cast iron low boys, each loop is seperate, so im good there ,however the water temp is the same in all, furnace to be set this year at 175-15 diff, so my question is will the hot water be too hot for my in floor, last yr had no issues, the floor wasnt too hot or anything like that, neither was the rads, i do realize i loose some temp before it get to the house, but really do i need the mixing valves or is that jus a scam, as my system works well with no issues at all.thanks for the help everyone..

HeatMaster / glycol
« on: September 23, 2013, 08:20:24 AM »
Hello everyone, im a new member, second question of the day,how much glycol should i add to my heatmaster 5000, i know it holds approx 150 gallons plus the loop into the home, im thinking approx 20 gallons maybe, just enough so that if i ever had to leave in an emergeny in the dead of winter it wouldnt freeze, would 20 gallons or so be enough, i know the pumps would be still circulating the water in the cold, but i just want to be extra safe ....thanks again..DW
