finally i think this is the first day above freezing in over a month

the wood pile gets a rest today, it was over 40 degrees american today
hope you all are getting a break too

 Same here Willie,I've been goin through wood like crazy for all of Dec and Jan. I guess thats kind of a good thing as this is my first year of burning wood, it should give me a worse case scenario for wood useage. What part if the country are you from?

Have been without power here in central Ky. ICE storm!!! No power for 9 days. Ran generator for 8 days 24-7. It has been warmer the past 3 days. Furnaces and CB5600 ran without any problems!!!

How much gas did it take to run that generator for all that time?I had to do that a few years ago and found that I could not make it for what the power co. was selling it to me.

I went through a whole mess of wood here in PA, too.  Just imagine if it was gas or oil we were sailing through...

I ran a coleman powermate 5000watt/6250surge. Like i said, i ran 2 furnaces, owb, tv's and a few lights. My generator's advertsied to run 11hrs at 50% load. I could easily run 14 hours on 6-gals of gas at $1.82/gl. Alot of my co-workers were running higher wattage generators 7500-8000watt and only getting 7-9 hrs. Also as I am writing this we are under a tornado watch and we are getting straight line winds of @ 50mph. Ice storm last week!!  There's on place  like the  OHIO Valley.

Good thing that gas is not 4+dollars a gallon.With no power in your area, where you able to find someplace who could pump gas?

I had 12 gals stored at home. By the second or third day was able to get gas where gas pumps were run by generators. It was really bad around here for several days. Had a few days where temps were in the single digits.
