General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / heating my upstairs
« on: October 04, 2016, 02:46:34 PM »
I have a 2 story house with 2 different heating units. I use the wood boiler to heat my downstairs. Getting a little older and would like to add the upstairs. Need some ideals on how to hook it all up. Like do I need to run another pump since it will be going upstairs? Can i tie into the line that is there and have the pump come on as needed to pull the water up? any and all help would be wonderful

Table is 24 x 22 and works great not the best at welding but it holds and keeps me from having to pick the wood up several times. I love it!!!!

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Keeping your battery ready
« on: January 06, 2016, 09:50:13 AM »
This is topic but I would use it for this. I was wondering how you keep your generator battery ready for if the power was to go out? I have put in a transfer switch for my house and have a portable generator to the lights on and heat. Only thing is over the summer we lost power for 3 days and went to start and the battery was dead. Even tried to charge afterwards to be ready for the next time. So I am asking how do you guys keep your ready like where you keep it and if you trickle charge the battery? Thanks

« on: March 01, 2014, 02:57:57 AM »
Just would like to know some different ways of hooking up some backup power and the size of the generator to get it done? With the potential of another ice storm headed this way kinda scrabbling to get things right before it get here. Was without power for 3 days the last time and this storm sounds like it could be worse. Thanks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Burning wood and coal!!!!
« on: January 28, 2014, 07:54:27 PM »
Been wanting to try and mix some coal with the wood and see if it can help burn time and cut down in wood consumption. So went yesterday and bought some and would give it a try. I have 10000E Heatmaster. With these cold nights I have been filling it full trying to get 24 hour burn cause I leave for work at 4 in the morning. So yesterday I filled stove just under half the way full and put in a 5 gallon bucket of coal in with it. Peices of coal averaged baseball to softball in size. Made sure they are spread out and on top if the wood to get the air to burn right. That was at 4:00 pm. I told my oldest son to go check the stove for me at 11:00 am. Said the temp was at 183 so it is still holding temp. I thought it would be good if it would hold till I got home at 5pm. Check the stove when I got home temp was at 179 with fan running so I opened the door just to see how it looked. Fire was going good and still had wood and could see the coal burning to. Raked everything around to even it out and fire got so hot I had to stop and shut the door. So I let it go for a while and check it again later. Went out at 9 and the temp was at 157 opened the door and it needed some attention so I put in the same that I did yesterday to see if I can get the same burn time or if it was fluke!!! That was 29 hours on half full stove if wood with coal added to it. If I can get these results with these temps being this cold I will be mixing all the time!!!

With all the cold weather we are having just wanted to say thanks to the people that have helped me along the way. Stove is working awesome. Filling it up 3/4 way and getting an easy 24 hour burn. Here is a little video of what was left after 24 hours and could have lasted an easy 6 more hours.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Temp at the vent?
« on: January 23, 2013, 07:34:38 PM »
Just kinda curious about this. I checked my stove and it was on 175 so I went back in to check the vent to see what the temp is coming out. I checked it and it was 136. Just curious to see what others may be getting out the vent. Thanks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Log Tongs
« on: November 18, 2012, 07:41:26 PM »
Wondering if anybody here has made them a set of Log Tongs? I am looking to add a boom to the side of my trailer to help me lift bigger pieces of wood onto the trailer and when I get back home use the boom to put the wood on the splitter. Really enjoy getting wood and cutting the bigger pieces but man killing me to lift them by hand.
