I picked up a 2-year old 100gal. A.O. Smith water heater at a school auction the other day for $70. After I won the item, the school manager told me it cost the school $9000.00 in 2007. It has 1 1/2"water inlet/outlets on both sides and on the top. I plan to install flatplate exchangers on both sides and run water in/out of the top. Downside,, it's 6 1/2 ft. tall and very heavy.

Most likely costs so much because of the 1000's of kids washing the swine flu off their hands each day. Wouldnt run nearly as much in a home application

Don't ever plan to hook the propane to this one. It has very large burners. Just plan to valve into it when boiler is cookin.

Heating house and beauty shop. Both with lp water heaters and forced air furances. Only use lp during summer temps. CB5036 does the rest. Using @7 cords/year in central Kentucky..
