As some of you guys know, I'm helping to pack up my mother in law from Florida to move back to Maine, we have come accross some very old stuff from back in the first and Second World War that I'm interested to find out more about, some medals and such, if there is any advise on how I can find out about it I would appreciate it very much and NO none of it is for sale.

Equipment / Warning, do your maintenance!!!!!
« on: December 30, 2016, 07:59:31 PM »
Today I had a couple of visitors stop by, the first was a new customer who has become a friend, he stopped to bring over a cold adult beverage and talk about how much he likes his new boiler.
The second was an old customer and friend, lets for ease of distinction call him Brian.
Brian has had the boiler that I sold him for about 9 years now, he has worn out several saws cutting wood to feed his old boiler and has perhaps become a bit careless with his maintenance, you see a few years back the chain brake on his saw gave up the ghost so he simply removed it and never fixed it! My new friend admitted while we were all talking that his did the same last year and he as well removed it!
Brian would not allow me to take any pictures as I think he was a bit embarrassed but let's just say this, he never was a very handsome man but he is less handsome today, about 6 weeks ago while he was cutting some small wood up that he had scavenged and dumped in the yard his saw tip hit a stray stick of wood and kicked back and up into his face, he was very lucky that he was not throttled up when it hit him alongside his nose and next to the eye, it went clean to the bone in the eyebrow area, listen up guys, if you never take heed to another thing this old long haired Libertarian says, Please take heed to this, if your saw needs maintenance, get the damned thing fixed, Brian could have very easily bled to death with nobody around, he would have left a wonderful wife, two great kids that love their Dad and two very overweight and stupid dogs. My new friend says that before he starts his saw again, he will fix the chain brake!
Be careful and have a great new year!

For Sale / Used boilers from our change out program
« on: December 23, 2016, 04:08:01 AM »
Our boiler change out program here at Mainly Custom seems to be working pretty well, I currently have several used units that need to be refurbished, we can do the job here or sell them as is, I'm looking for offers on the following units.
Central Boiler E classic 1400  running when I pulled it, no leaks!
Aqua Therm 4 foot model, needs lots of work but no leaks!
Wood Doctor 14000, this is the 5 foot firebox that heated my complex for the past 12 years, no leaks!
Heatmor 400 needs work but no leaks, plugged tubes and not pretty!
HS Tarm solo plus MK 11, just picked this little beauty up yesterday, it was heating the house and shop until about a week ago. Needs nothing other than cleaning!

As I said before, we can do the upgrades but I'm not interested in doing this before I have some commitment, offers can be sent to mainly_custom@yahoo.com
Pictures can be provided upon request.

For Sale / CB 1400
« on: December 21, 2016, 04:07:44 AM »
I just did a swap out with a CB 1400, it was operating when I pulled it, no leaks but the air channels will need some work.
I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to put the effort into rebuilding it and putting it back on the market or better to part it out and scrap the carcass?

Looking for offers either way!

For Sale / 2005 Wood Doctor 14000 for sale
« on: June 06, 2016, 05:55:00 AM »
I pulled out my WD 14000 over the weekend to put in the G-400, the WD is in very good shape, no holes, never been welded, this is 500,000 BTU's.
I am offering it up to Maine residents only as a used unit originally purchased and installed here in Maine can still be resold, I will deliver it locally for free and give a one year full coverage parts and labor warranty.
It can be seen here in Lyman, Maine.
The first $6000 OWB's it!

Yup, the old Wood Doctor has some age on her, she's been a great stove and perhaps she will find another home but Mum says she wants one of those pretty grey and green units that burns less wood and smokes less, we will be putting in the G 400.

As you guys know, I'm not a subsidy guy, BUT I sure do get tired of the powerfully connected being handed stolen ratepayers monies to prop up industries like pellets in order to increase their profit margins, well after several years of preaching, I got the word yesterday that high efficiency indoor and outdoor wood boilers will now be added to the approved funding list, for any of you folks here in Maine looking to trade up, there is no better time than now.
Efficiency Maine will be funding 1/3 of the total installed cost up to $5000.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Guys, I / we could use some help
« on: January 20, 2016, 05:02:13 AM »
Recently I have been hammering Efficiency Maine on Facebook for their unfair tradition of excluding OWBs from their subsides program, with your help, we may be able to persuade them to add OWBs to their approved list, Please take the time to search them out and post your experiences with your OWB as well as your thought on fair subsidies!

General Discussion / Emily and Ollie's Magic Liberty Bus
« on: January 08, 2016, 03:59:58 AM »
Oh where to start, the name came to Dan And I one evening on a jobsite in Connecticut.
Emily is my wife's initials MLE  ( she is the one that let me have the money for our project so I had better put her name on it)
Ollie, she is our road warrior, those of you who have met her know full well that like any female, she is possessive, opinionated and simply wants things her way!
Magic, Oh well, I think enough said on the subject
Liberty, it's all about promoting the true Liberty of burning wood to heat your spaces

EOMLB started out as a 2014 International 31 foot Handicapped School Bus from the Baltimore county School district, it sports a 7.3 litre Diesel engine and a 5 speed Allison automatic transmission, air ride on the rear axle, capable of 27,500 pound gross vehicle weight, air over juice brakes, all 4 wheels are disc.

I found her on the internet, flew to Baltimore and drove her home that evening without a singl issue!

We realized this past spring that my service trailer was in need of replacement when we did a brake job and found 5 major cracks in the frame, I looked around and replacement cost would have been over $10,000
After giving it some thought, we realized one of my biggest issues in installs was that we almost always had to make 2 trips, one to deliver the boiler and the second for the service trailer, EOMLB solved that issue by making camping quarters in the front of her and shop/ parts storage in the back, we then built our own version of a brindle that accommodates a full roll of Logstor on a big Lazy Susan and behind it a trolley type crane with an 8 foot I beam, the winch is an 8000 pound single pull doubled with a home made pulley.
This now enables us to show up at the customers jobsite with the pipe, boiler, parts and camper all at once!
