Title: PEX ASSEMBLY
Post by: Sawdust on September 01, 2010, 07:29:39 PM
Hello,    Would appreciate any info concerning whether or not pex tube and polypex fittings can be assembled using gear type bands. ?The stainless with screw-type tightening? Thanks for any replys.

I wouldn't do it.  Definitely not on something so important.  Those are made for rubber lines not pex.

Thanks for the reply. I researched this and learned that the pex is too hard to compress enough to make a seal with the gear clamps.

It is not that expensive to buy the tool for cinch rings and the rings are dirt cheap.  Maybe $50 for the tool and 100 cinch/clamp rings for all sizes up to 1".
