Hi all - I'll replacing the old taco circ with a grundfos alfa on the pressurized system inside the house. This has nothing to do with the OWB side of things. The problem I have is the flanges are a different configuration than the taco, they're turned 90 degrees. If I try to put the alfa in same place as the taco the alfa hits the bottom of the pressure tank making it impossible to install the alfa. I'm wondering if it's okay to remove the pressure tank, thread a 90 degree elbow into the air scoop, thread a 3 inch nipple into the 90 and then to another 90 to which I would then hang the pressure tank. Would this be acceptable? Anything wrong with this approach? Thanks. Roger

Yes. The new pumps motor will be horizontal only it's turned 90 degrees and hits the bottom of the pressure tank making impossible to hang it. I can't turn it 90 degrees the other way due to a wall being there.

The alpha comes with rotated or regular flanges. But it's late for that. I'm not a pressurized boiler expert but I don't see why you couldn't move the expansion tank.

I learned that after the fact and I already had the new one on hand. Oh well, Live and learn I guess.

Is it not possible to rotate the flanges on your pipes?
There should not be a problem with adding the fittings to the expansion tank to move it. As long as water can flow in and out it will work fine.

I looked at that and believe it or not, it's so tight of a spot that the upper flange will hit the tank if I try to rotate it. I essentially have no choice but move the tank over a bit, maybe 3 or 4 inches. Thanks for the help everyone. Roger

If I'm understanding correctly, your tank is currently screwed right into the 1/2" port on the scoop, right? And you want to just offset the tank with 2 elbows and a nipple? If so, that's perfectly fine. I do it all the time to keep piping closer to the wall
