caught mine on sale and was able to trade in , actually cut my wood a bit different now , with this saw i cut larger logs but only 12 or 14 inches ea and then use a splitter , nice good solid chunks to fill the stove with ,

Just replaced my echo cs 440 and traded up to a 590 , all i can say is WOW ! , this is one mean saw , its a bit heavier than the old one but the weight of the saw does the work in a log , not you , very impressed and a good price to boot

Im on my third year with this , so far so good, what small issues I've had I could call the factory and talk to Jerry or Terry and have it resolved quickly. Jerry has since left the company , Ive no reason to believe anything will change as far as customer service at the shop , i called thinking I needed a fan and priced it and it couldve been shipped that day , didn't need it , Ive had 0 mechanical failures  , My unit was a POC model and it actually was running at Terry's grandaddys house for a year or 2 as a test model when i bought it , actually has a 11/2010 date stamped in the door

I realize everyone has an opinion on different models but seems to be a couple on here that go out of their way to badmouth this company and furnace line, simply take it with a grain of salt and stick to your original question , "HOSS owners, please give feedback "

starting third year here, no compliants so far , just the normal maintenance , mine will burn green or seasoned , with seasoned better burn and coal beds, green burns but you have to babysit it a bit more , I like it now , unseasonably warm weather and check it every 24 hrs as it sits at an idle most of the time, when it gets cold , below 30 I get about a 6 hour burntime heating 2 uninsulated greenhouses , so all well so far

love the haters here

I'm in the middle of doing just that , I bought clamp on forks for my front loader and then found pallets for 1.00 apiece, put 2 side by side, couple 2x4s to put them together and some old 4x4 for bottom to keep it up off the ground , with a good load on it even with a box scraper or a bushhog on back the front is top heavy, but its great for moving wood after splitting , only pick it up once, deliver the whole pallet right in front of the stove and leave it there . I have 3 of these for the front now i move in and out

I found a set of hay spears for the 3 pt hitch that have 2 level forks almost like a carry all for the 3 pt hitch  , I'm going to do the same thing there and see if that wont balance out the weight a bit

best thing is it will give me an excuse to finally purchase that hydraulic top link for the 3 pt hitch  ::)

Victor deep , HORSEFEATHERS !! if you don't have one how can you call it a piece of junk and bad engineering ?

I have one , it does shoot some flames out the top when there is a good fire going and you add wood to it , there is also a cut off for the fan to  turn it off while loading and to turn it back on to prevent that from happening , if you stop and think about it this occurs when you open the door to load wood and are introducing a lot of extra oxygen into the fire, you close the door it has to burn it off and does so in a minute or so .

look on their website and you see the new ones have a chimney cap , mine does not , this design has been in place 2 years now.your comments have no logic or basis to them and are just comments out your ass , mine came with three Wilo pumps and I've been running them 2 years and no issue,

bottom line is these things are like auto preferences , every one has there favorite and bash the others ,

the thing the irritates me is the man  is asking questions to help him make a informed decision and your comments have no merit or factual basis to them but rather personal opinions , you know what they say about personal opinions and assholes

I live in Tn also and all i can say is crazy weather !, I heat 2 greenhouses and will be hooking up the house and garage sometime soon as soon as i get caught up with my work ( maybe 2016 or so the way things are going ) , the greenhouse really put a load on the stove as its no insulation value at all and trying to keep 2 at 55 degrees can be some work , a good stove should idle a long time if no heat is called for , right now during the day the greenhouses heat up enough to idle the stove most of the day and then after the sun goes down come on and off as needed

hope that helps , I bought a bigger stove to add on capacity later, I looked at  additional storage but after getting some really good advice here decided against it , I think if i m still here next year ill build a couple solar water heaters and storage tanks to offset some of the heating, heard a lot of good things on P and M , the guys here will steer you in the  right direction

Im in Middle tn with a Hoss 400 HE with a 400 gallon tank  , the weather has been crazy , week ago in the 7o's and then been iced in last 3 days with nothing above freezing ,going to melt today !!

Im with Scott on its not the gallons , if its burning that much wood the heat is going somewhere , either the home or lost enroute underground, I heat 2 large greenhouses that are not insulated at all ( 6 mil plastic) that i keep at 58 degrees, when its at freezing i get about a 8 hour burn time on a load of wood , when its 5 degrees out I get less ,

as suggested id check what the temp is leaving the boiler , check the temp at your heat source at the house and them check the temp on returning to the boiler

wood makes all the difference, while mine will burn anything green and wet it also has a hard time with it maintaining temp with wet wood ,

if you got that unit for a golf cart you got a steal ! .  I think your off to a  good start and are way ahead of the game with what you have in it It just needs some fine tuning ,there are lots of good people here that will help you out but i don't think you need to give up and get rid of it

post some more details around what your settings are/differential is  ,  but measure that temp at those locations and eliminate the piping underground losing it

I had problems with mine this year with it getting plugged up a bit , i thought it was clean by punching it out and i could run a stick down it and thought it  was good , i had to buy a brush and modify it to fit the chimney so it takes 2 brushes to clean mine real good right ,

keep posting and asking the guys here questions, they will help you get to the bottom of it

Here's what I did in a pinch , not saying its the right way but it worked, I gambled when i did it , knowing I could ruin a 100 dollar alternator or loose about 25,000 in inventory , that was the choice at the time , kinda a no brainer, but all went well and no damage to vehicles months later

I mirror Ito's comments 100%, I also tried this , when i pack it full i may get 8-12 inches of coals piled up and doesnt burn as well , I go 1/2 to 3/4 full and let that burn down before adding more, there are days when I'm not here I go full , course I walk out and poke the fire every 2-3 hours out of habit anyway so  its not a big deal while I'm here

check with your electricity dept, ours offer that free and of course they have the insulation/ water heater /heat pump programs. some offer solar incentives as well

Deja vue slim ,
took your advice and nice and slow , only loaded half what I normally do as it was dark , I got something hung up against rear hyd hose and it gave way and I lost all power and hydraulics on the way down the hill . got it to a stop and had to walk home about a mile and half, bad thing was it was 15 degrees out and I had to walk thru the creek knee deep  , just got my replacement hoses today and will put them on in the morning , never fails this cant happen when its 50 -60 out but  22 degrees high today

tried to add picture but my folder is full, anyone know how to contact admin , seems several have this issue
