0011 taco pump

I have replaced my 0011 taco pump every year for the last 3 years. I would like to know if I have the right pump or do i need a bigger one. It's about 85 feet to my outside wood burner. I also have a heat exchanger with about a 60 foot loop 2 radiators on a 35 foot loop, a hot plate on its own pump. The pipe from my stove is 1 1/4" with a 6' lift. Most  all my piping inside is 1" I have been told this pump is not to be used for a outside wood burner. The company that installed the systems is no help!Lets leave it a that.please help   :bash:

I would think that pump is plenty big enough for your loop..As far as the pump being replaced every year I don't know..Hows your water condition like ph, hard or soft water, minerals etc..? All that could effect the pumps life considering the pump is water lubricated..Id like to know the reason why that person told you its not to be used for a OWB..Pump is no different than other taco pumps..

Where is the pump mounted? Have you pulled any of them apart to see what the cause was?
Does it just not start again after being off for the summer?

I would just replace it with a dry rotor pump.

If they are replacing it free you might as well stay with it.
Do you have it in the house or at the boiler? If at the boiler, is it on a top or bottom port?
If in the house, are there any high spots between the boiler and pump? A high spot like that will trap air and then randomly some of it gets pulled into the pump. Mine has that problem (I came over the concrete wall instead of boring through it) and when I had a 0011 pump it didn't like that at all. (started squeeling in less than a year) The Grundfos 26-96 worked much better. I had it on for about 6 or 7 years.
Now I am running a B&G dry rotor pump and like it much better so far.

The stove is about 6 feet higher than the pump. The pump is in the house, and I went straight throw the wall.

with 1.250 lines in the ground i would guess your pump (taco 0011) is plenty for your system.

my taco 0011 is in its 11th year, why you are burning them out i have no good ideas

perhaps you have it in line not quite proper? i am not 100 percent sure but i think i read somewhere these style of pum should NOT be mounted with the motor on top if it is in a horizontal position

that is about all i can think of except for water condition

Wet rotor circulators have to have some pressure to live, open systems cannot always provide enough head for the cartridge. Thus why they also are not supposed to be mounted with cartridge on top or noon location. I do know they will not always warranty them if on open loop systems. Is your OWB higher than the system or do you have a zone more than 10' below pump.
