i need to run another loop. Question on draining
« on: December 04, 2015, 08:48:34 PM »

I need to add another loop to my Central Boiler 6048. I need to drain some water .. I never did this. Some say to just undo the plug and hurry to thread a valve on and some say to completely drain the unit..

What's the proper way?  U hate to drain and waste the treated water. .

It's going to be hot and fast, safety says drain it first but a trick we use on oil tanks is to put a vacuum on the vent to slow the escaping water.

Yep, I’ve done the same on engines, put a vacuum on the radiator and if your quick and good (like me  :D) you can get the block heater changed out and lose little to no coolant.
