10 Plate Vs 30 Plate Exchanger for Drinking water
« on: December 23, 2015, 12:34:52 PM »

I had a 10 plate exchanger with around 100 feet of total 1 inch pex. I just recently installed a taco 077. From what I understood I needed to upgrade to a 30 plate because the 10 was too restrictive? I installed 30 plate now my water instead of being 121 at the faucet is 1 million degrees. Will someone please help me understand why I spent 135 dollars on a 30 plate when my 10 plate was working just fine.

They most likely were referring to the ten being too restrictive for the boiler loop, installing a mono flo T would have helped with flow as well.

i guess what Im asking is what makes the 10 more restrictive? I havent seen the inside of one. It just seems like a 10 vs a 30 the 30 would have hotter water not be more restrictive.

The water flows in thin channels created by the plates, more channels equals less restriction.
