I believe he is referring to the size of material that it will burn.A 1" screen would mean anything less than 1" in diameter would fit in it.

I still can't see how you can reasonably even think about burning sawdust.Takes up too much space then it also has to dry out as it holds moisture.Only way to make it worth the hassle would be to pellet it.Unless you own a sawmill and have an over abundance of it.
Now the one thing that I see as a great btu producer is dried horse manure.I have read that it produces alot of heat.

Yes it does! I have experimented burning that as a kid. Best darn fertilizer too! Horse people can't give it away fast enough either. Reminds me..........I gotta go up the road to the neighbors and get a couple loads for the garden in a couple of weeks. Drying it effectively in large quantities would be key, I think.
