Heatmor / Re: Thinking of Getting a HEATMOR 200, input please!
« on: February 20, 2015, 02:30:23 AM »
thanks for the replies.

MY nrighbors 400 is on its 12th year of operation with zero issues. He loads twice a day, only about a 1/3 firebox full. overall, its seems to burn about the same as mine, but my heat demand is smaller than his. SO his seems to burn more efficiently. His doesnt smoke much and all and ges up to temp quick. Im thinking off just dropping the $ on a new 200, instead of buying the used one.

Heatmor / Thinking of Getting a HEATMOR 200, input please!

hey everyone,

there is a 1 yr old heatmor 200 for sale by me for 4,500. Stove is in great shape. Dealer i spoke with said warranty it transferable. I know what the same model retails for new, and this is a great price. I am currently running a Timberwolf 5000 natural draft unit, and even tho it works, it seems very inefficient to me. lots of heat loss thru the stack and door.

My neighbor has a HEatmor 400 and lvoes it. 11 yrs with no issues.

Just wanting some feedback from Heatmor owners. Anything specific i should be looking for when i go check it out??????

Thanks everyone

It's very simple really, put the filter in line with your current piping and install tees on each side of the filter that connect the loop around the filter, ball valves are recommended as well so that the cartridge can be changed without interruption of service

ahhh makes sense slim. thank you

They are a good idea when they are installed and maintained properly, trouble is that once they are installed, most home owners completely forget about them, Be sure to install a bypass around the filter so that as it plugs up the filter, water can flow around it without restriction.

Thanks Slim, makes sense. I was was thinking about putting one in this spring as i have to redo a bunch on my lines anyways bc of my late install in november. Are there any diagrams available for hooking one up with a bypass???

Thanks!

im running 185-190. Spray WD-40 once a week on the rim of the inlet pipe and the solenoid itself. Keep the wood about 4 inches from the door and u will be good! BURN HOT, thats the key! low temps=more creosote=more carbonic acid (salt)=more corrosion and more tar mess

Roscoe i am not surprised by ur findings. I was expecting to here something along these lines. I have a Ridgewood 5000, almost identical to the ridgewood in design and function...i bought and hooked up a fan w/damper kit to the draft door a few months back in hopes to acheive being able to burn bigger logs and chunks off wood. I was having the same issues it sounds like u were having...it would burn great if i put small split peices of seasoned ash or oak...but if i put any larrge rounds or green in...my burn times and efficiency went to crap. Anywho, i got the fan all hooked up and it worked great for the most part...expect for the fact that it just blew the air directly onto the fire. Most units, like the WD have a baffle system on the inside of the door to evenly direct the airflow across the firebox from left to right, and also bottom to top. I expereinced incomplete burns and uneven burns. I also found that i was losing a ton more heat out of the stack, and also was seeing a bunch of sembers flying out from time to time along with ash. So, I took the draft fan off and went back to normal operation with natural draft. about a month later i decided to try adding an additional 4ft of stack on (i was already at 6 ft) and WOW! what a damn difference, NO NEED FOR A FAN NOW! within 4 minutes of the draft door opening there is an inferno roraing! recovery times are MUCH better, and i am able to throw whatever i want in there and it burns.

I Think that if there was some sort of baffle system on the inside of the door to direct airflow it would be much more efficent...but i would suggest just extending the stack..only cost me $22 for 4ft more of 8 inch pipe
