The cleaning was fine.  It had been 2 weeks and I had put about 1 1/2 cords through it and there was just some ash but not very dirty at all.

Wood Burner glad to hear things are going well.  What are you heating with it?  Where are you located?

I clean mine every 2 weeks.  I bought a ash vac and it does work well.  I also bought the cleaning tool for the tubes that you use with a drill and that works great.  It sure makes cleaning a whole lot easier.  One thing about loading the boiler that someone else said was if you load the largest round first in the middle then put smaller stuff on either side and then the next row put the largest round in the middle again and small stuff on the sides it should burn down a little better.  I am going to give this a try.

Nice tractor that sure makes things easy.  I have to clean the boiler tomorrow.  It is supposed to be in the 30's so will be a good day to do it.  It has been super cold here this past week.  Last night we were at -10.  Do you ever have problems with bridging.  I seem to have it happen fairly often.  If I just let it go it will eventually burn down but the blower has to run for a long time to get it to that point.

Here is a picture of my set up from the house. My future wood shed is in the back of the boiler where you can see the wood stacked.  I think it will be 12 x 16.

I am heating 8000 sq ft. in New Hampshire with Empyre pro 400.  Good insulation in Barn. Main house is log home 2500 sq ft.  When temps 0-10 I am burning about 3/4 cord per week.  Wood is 1 year seasoned oak.

I bought the flue cleaning tool.  The brush is not made to go on a drill unless you clean out with the flue cleaning tool first.  I just ran the flue cleaning tool through a couple of times then ran the brush through by hand.  Here is the link for the flue cleaning tool that goes on a drill. http://ecomfort.com/empyre-elite-xt-pro-deluxe-flue-active-tool-92366.html

I just open the door up all the way.  Get a couple of logs and by the time I get back it is all set.  The wind could  have quite a bit to do with it.  Mine is under a roof with open sides so that may help a little as well.

When you open the door you have to give it 30 seconds or so for the smoke to clear.  I  have never had a problem.

What happened.  When I ran the tool through the horizontal tubes it would pull the ash out and I vacummed it out.

I have been doing it every two weeks and that seems to work pretty well.  I did find last week that the boiler seemed to take quite a while to get up to temp and I was going through a lot of wood.  I started moving the ash around in the primary burn chamber and got some big chunks of real hardened ash off the brick which I think was restricting the nozzles.  It seems to be much better now.  I will  have to be sure and really keep moving the ash around and make sure I don't get that build up.

I just got done cleaning the tubes on my pro 400 using my new flue cleaning tool and it made the job 100 times easier.  I ran the tool through a couple of time then I ran the brush through just to get any left over ash out and worked really well.
