Title: beet juice

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with using Rim Guard (beet juice) in their furnace for both  antifreeze and anti corosion protection. They have info on their website for tire ballast but maybe there are other uses.

actually I was thinking of a red dye so I could see the sight tube a bit better, my water level indicator is a 1 inch plastic tube about 12 inches long and the water line is supposed to be visible , between me needing glasses and the line clear and water clear i have to look pretty close , but if beet juice as you say does all that I may just find me some and add it as a dye and get the qualities you describe as a bonus

I think I'll go  with it. 28 cents a lb, 11 lbs per gallon can replace my water for under $600. Then if I want to go away I can leave the pump running and have some piece of mind that even if the power goes out I am protected. Maybe a test gallon heated to 185 for a week and then set out to see if it freezes would be and idea.

Ah yes testing is required, that may be the drawback sugar in the tank so to speak.

Sugary beet juice in an open system of an OWF? I think it may build bacteria and sludge up all over the place.
