I sold my 044 Stihl after 15 years of use. Downsized to a 5105 Dolmar with a 20" bar and love it. Much lighter and handles everything I need to cut for firewood. Tops and butts from logging. A sharp chain is the key to any saw cutting well, as long as the saw runs...
Learn to file, keep extra chains, do what you have to, but stay sharp!

I now also have a Makita 6401 with a 28" bar. Came with a 20" bar used and bought a new 28". Total saw and 2 bars...$275...what a deal!

Just broke in a Husy 555 which is a nice saw for the amount of wood I cut.  May upgrade to 562 xp next year.

I am stihl man too.  MS280 20" bar, 028 wood boss 18" bar, & a MS170 16" bar for the small stuff.   Want a pro model with a 25" bar next.   I have a couple of red oaks down that a 20" bar will be a slight small...

bought a new Husky 254 back in 1980 something had them swap out the 16 for an 18 inch bar and it has been a perfect saw for cutting firewood. Still runs like new.

Trying to post pics. Can't seem to get them into the reply box.
Guess I did. This is as of a month or so ago. I've added 3 more since.
They all run great and I exercise them when I can.

Jonesred 2052. Lightweight professional saw.  Never have to adjust the chain unless a 24" log pinches it and that's my fault.
