I haven't used the 353 but I did use the 359 for 3 years and loved it.  It will handle  a 24 in bar and cuts great.  The 562xp is supposed to be replacing the 359 (they're not making them anymore)  I just got my new husky 562xp tuesday.  I havnt had it in the woods yet so we'll see if it's as bad as they say it is.  Supposedly the dealer was at a show and they laid a log down and buried the bar into the grain longways and it never bogged down or anything.  He said thats what sold him on the 562.

Echo 600P with a 20" bar and full chisel chain. Let the haters hate, I love every Echo I've ever had. 5 year warranty, friendly service here in Rockford, IL, and I can buy 2 Echo's to 1 Stihl. I would love to have a service shop on every corner though, but for the cost savings, I'll keep buying Echo.

husky 355 20" bar
husky 572 26" bar

go with a dealer that has a good reputation. it helps in getting your equipment repaired.  EVERYTHING breaks.  I just cut all of the trees that have fallen in storms over the last 4 years. Most were leaning against another tree. Dangerous stuff if you don't know what you are doing.  My huskies and husky splitter cut and split and stacked true 4x4x8 foot set on pallets for a total of 68 cords of wood ash and white oak. Not one issue with either chain saw or 22 ton vertical/horizontal splitter.

I just picked up a ysed Stihl 035 with 18" bar for $225.  Guy at the shop said it will take a 24" bar.  She rips thru stuff really nice.  I have to buy old skool, $600 -$800 just aint in the budget.

A stihl is a tuff saw, a used one is better than some other brands new.

I bought my Husky 353 in 2004 and it has been trouble free.  It has cut everything from big dead locust, beech, oak and maple.  It is a nice lite saw.  IF I ever decide to upgrade I think I will be looking for a saw in the 70cc range  just because....

I have used McCullach and Homelite in the past on the farm, so no real comparison there.

This was my first REAL saw.

I'd bet that 035 will handle more than 24". Mine is a ms310 and I have a 25" on it occasionally with no troubles.

I have a Stihl MS 310 with a 20" bar and a Stihl MS 660 Magnum with a 25" bar.  There is no tree I can't handle with these two saws.
