Well she use to, until she overheated it because she forgot to shut the ash drawer and had a disaster going on.  Had to get it settled down get a fitting fixed in the basement hat came apart and filled with water and back running all while I was gone and she has limited knowledge about this, which I can understand being overwhelming for a woman. She was so worried she ruined my stove and she also knows how much I spent on it. She no longer wants any part in it while I'm gone.  She will fill it if I'm home or can be home.

I just let mine do the grunt work ,,,[no thinking involved]

Don't get me started with the satelite tv......................or the blu ray player

They got all their toys listed,, but can't add a rough location.

15-20 years ago you could get to the valve covers to change the gaskets and stop the leak. Now it's cheaper to let it leak than spend a whole day trying to fix it. Can you tell I love technology ;)

that Ford engine needs castrated before he can further pollute the gene pool.

Thats a funny damn analogy!!!

Shut my stove down yesterday.  Early I know but I have to travel for work and the wife won't do it.  Got almost 5 cords through, maybe a half cord left in the wood shed yet.  I was planning on 10 cords this winter Nov 1st to April 1st but I didn't get to :(

Wife won't do it?????????

It got up to 35 here today but felt really cold. Not sure if it was humidity or what. I would have guessed close to single digits if didn't look at the thermometer.

-20c/-4 f "here" [if you look at my signature here has relevance]

Your quite a salesman Slim!!
if you can sell boilers down there, you could probably sell ice to the eskimo's in the arctic.

Problem is going up the stack by design.

Checked out my supply today, gotta say I am quite surprised. Started the burning year with 29 full cords and only 15 left and the season is not over. :bash:

14 bush cords ???so far,, in the south??
Do you have an automatic loader,, or some teenager,, to help you keep the wood in it???
I know your heating lots ,, I hope the guys can figure it out for ya

If you want to talk wood consumption and efficiency,,my neighbour has it all figured out.
He's got a little airtight cast iron wood stove in the basement.
He hooks up a bunch of redneck piping and a fan on the back of the airtight,to get the heat upstairs.
He heats the basement and upstairs of the 2 bedroom 1100 square foot house with less than 3 bush cords of wood.
No he can't heat the dhw ,,,and he's got the fire inside the building,,, but 3 cords a year ,,,,and it's cold here.
That's redneck efficiency

Hey guys,
Have had a Woodmaster 4400 for 9 years now...
It is used to heat a 3000 square foot house - old farmhouse, newly (But traditionally) insulated (meaning no blown-in etc..).  Furnace is 75' from basement.  So, 150' loop.
I burn 15+ Cord of hardwood (of varying degrees of seasoning) in the Oct-May heating season.  Upstate NY but not way upstate - Albany area.  There is a fair amount of wind, also heats domestic hot water.

In reading here, I feel as though I am using too much wood.  We do keep the house fairly warm all winter long.

So, how do I assess my system -
Woodmaster 4400, pumped by Taco 011 to plate exchanger, circulated to furnace and distribution manifold by an 007 or 005 pump (furnace is oil furnace, sits unplugged), circulated through the house by taco 007's.

I have an infrared gun style thermometer.

What is the best way to get temp readings on PEX?

What is an ideal drop in temp from leaving OWD to entering OWB when calling for heat?  When not?

How much temp should I expect to lose before it gets to exchanger?

How much should I lose in exchanger?

Is there a way to turn up or turn down the 011 pump?

What about stack temp?  How do I measure that?  What is ideal?

I know there are a lot of questions that are answered on the site...but sometimes I feel like I am not quite understanding stuff..

I got same stove, heating 1/2 of what u are.
I have a shorter run, but not much.
I use 1/2 the wood u do. [6 bush cords]
Most of the heat from these stoves goes up the chimney.[as Martin says]
In my opinion your not doing too bad on the wood consumption for 8 months use.
If I did not have free wood, I would not bother with the whole exercise.

« on: March 06, 2017, 06:59:12 PM »
What do you mean, my instant coffee is the best in fact I'm enjoying one right now!

Thats all they drink in England, we took our cousin a big can of Folgers breakfast blend, he played hell finding any coffee filters….

Cut coffee consumption in half [2 cups],, 86 the salt,, lost 10 lbs,,,, and my blood pressure went from a buck 50 to 120's.
Now I got blood pressure room for beer]

But I still miss my extra coffee's
