Title: Poll: Review Your Heatmaster SS!
Post by: userdk on January 22, 2016, 11:08:06 AM
Just thought it would be interesting to see how this turns out. If it works out ok and not too much fake reviewing goes on, a topic like this could be started in each brand-category. If you want to add pics and a detailed review, go ahead.

I love my Heatmaster g200  I'm getting 12 hour burn times and keeping my 2500 sf 150 year old house at 70. My wife can't even run us out of hot water either. Some of our neighbors have old boilers and I hope when they see ours they upgrade theirs.

Of the three boiler brands we have owned, this one is in a totally different category!!!!!!!! Easily cut wood consumption in half over the previous model, doing some measurements now to post  just how much this furnace is heating on how small an amount of wood for such a long period of time.Like my Father-in-law used to tell me,previous boiler to this one-"Don't send a boy out to do a man's job." It doesn't matter which brand you purchase,it is water that heats your home, not fancy gizmos, electronics, ceramic blanket or refractory brick/cement.It is how efficiently the furnace heats the water and recovers under load, and this furnace excels at that.

One thing I cannot fully appreciate is the physical size of various units.

That said, how about a picture of you or a person next to a your MF20000e Mr. Maple?  :photo:

(I know it is a large boiler; that's why I desire to see a person next to one).

You ain;t kidding, seen one at Heartland Energy in Ohio, I could easily chuck my mother in law in it and still have plenty of room left for wood.

I've got a 20,000 down front, I'll try to remember to get a picture today to post, that one is the guy in CT that we built a dry kiln for, he has had that boiler for about 15 years, he figures about 1.5 million BTUs. It heats his entire shop and his kids house. He asked me to come down this next weekend to install a Modine heater in the sawmill for the computer on his WoodMizer , we will have to do some ground thaw first to run about 150 feet of Logstor!
He burns upwards of 150 full cord a year, they split nothing! Load it with his skid steer 6 feet long!

I think it's 16 inch, he owns a very succesful tree care company near Hartford  Connecticut and gets paid to remove trees so it's free fuel! His shop houses a crane truck with a 165 foot stick, full time mechanic to maintain the fleet, several maintenance bays.

Thanks for participating in this poll. I didn't know what to expect but a 100% after 22 reviews is pretty amazing. The poll is still open so feel free to participate.

It's not very clear in the pic but that in the back is an MF 20,000e with a person next to it. Found the picture on HeatMaster's Facebook page from back in 2013 or so when Ryan was here in WI for Farm Tech Days.

This will be my second season on a C375. I do a lot of installations for the local dealer who carries Heatmaster and Crown Royal, previously P&M, and talk to a lot of my other customers about the likes/dislikes of their previous (sometimes current) boilers. Armed with that information and a few personal preferences, I settled on the C series and would do it again in a heartbeat. I burn almost exclusively red oak, and last year burned approximately 7-8 cord, but had a couple loads of rotten crap that needed to get disposed of. I hauled 9 in this year and hope it'll last the season but I'm fairly certain I'll have some left over. Been using about a wheelbarrow full a day with the 2800 sq ft house at 70, 1600 sq ft main shop at 50-60 depending what I'm doing, and 800 sq ft uninsulated lean-to at 45 so the Bobcat will start. Also heating the domestic in the house and occasional snowmelt in 160ft sidewalk. I installed a flue thermometer last week and so far the highest I've seen has been 480 degrees with a full load of cardboard. Regular old Oak fire at full tilt hangs right around 380-400, with a peak of about 430-440 for a minute or two in the middle. Pretty darn acceptable for a conventional in my eyes! Thermometer goes down to 100 and it hangs right at the bottom at idle. The triple pass flue passages could be easier to clean if I had to make a complaint, but otherwise I love everything about it

Not to derail the thread, but I saw a guy use a leaf blower to clean his top baffles. 30 seconds... :)

So I have officially got my 2017 G200 Installed and have bee up and running the new unit for about 3-4wks. This thing is an absolute WORKHORSE!!! I was very apprehensive about stepping into a gasification stove after years of burning a conventional because I had this idea stuck in my head they there was going to be so much maintenance involved. I could not have been more wrong! This thing is a breeze. I actually think it is less maintenance than my old conventional stoves of years past. I just emptied the ashes for the first time and got about 3 gallons out of the secondary chamber. I rock the shaker handles about 5-10 times in the evening and other than that there is not much to it. I am seeing flue stack temps of 290-320F on average with a High of 350-375 depending on species and size of wood. I am still playing around with the right mixture of big and small pieces based on heating demands, sometimes I burn it too rich. I have been loading on average just up to the bottom of the door frame for a 12hr load. Sometimes higher if temps go negative at night. I have heating 4400 sqft (3400sqft house at 70, 100sqft shop at 75 and 55 (2 separate rooms)). Heatmaster has been a great company when I have had questions, both at the corporate level and also with the string of dealers I have spoken with. I would also like to give a big THANK YOU to my dealer Alex at Alternative Heating Solutions. He was very kind and humble during the entire process and really made the entire process easy.
