Friend off mine had same issue with his owb. Ended up being the big rounds he was burning. He said he thought he had air issue also cause fire would roar only when door was open. He switched up his wood and he said it recovers fine now. Dont know if this will help but good luck

Had electric baseboard. Bill was 300- 400. Had heat pump and duct work installed without electric backup in heat pump. Left electric baseboard in place for back up if heat pump cant keep up. Ol lady loves owb and house at 74. By the way electric bill about 120 now

7700 for stove. Probably around 1500 for pex,  hx for duct, hx for dhw, circulators,  fittings, etc.. have manifold built out of one inch copper so that didnt help with price of copper.but its working really well

Not impressed with my maverick remote therometer. Just got it and it reads 5-8 degrees less than my infrared temp gun

My dealer didnt know. So i called another dealer that i talked to when shopping around and he said they changed design on them and i should have no issues. But he got upset when he ask me how much i paid for stove cause it was 1000 less then what he sells for. Only called him cause i knew he was knowledgable. Thanks for posts guys

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / portage and main ml-30
« on: December 19, 2011, 11:16:56 PM »
Posted this on portage and main section with no response. Here goes: just a few days from firing up my new portage and main ml-30. This is shaker grate model. Manual shows air adjustment plate on blower but my stove didnt come with one. Does coal need more air than wood and if im primarily burning wood should i have a plate to fine tune my air flow. Great site and thanks for any feed back

I would just disconnect it in heat pump. I have heat pump without electric backup and have installed on 2 pole 15 amp. Its wired heavy enough so for resale value of my home i could just install element and upsize breaker.
