Water Level
« on: December 22, 2014, 02:46:56 PM »

I've noticed on my Ridgewood 7500 that the site glass showing water level is around 3/4's full (the site glass is 3/4's full )  Is this normal for all of their stoves?  When we made the initial fill of the stove 2 weeks ago, it, it peed out of the top of the site glass until we are at the level we are at now.  Just curious.  So far, love the heat and the awesomeness of the stove.  Wishing all of you a warm and very Blessed Christmas..............Vincent Paul Meyers

Mine also sits at 3/4 full in the sight glass. I think thats normal for a Ridgewood. If you watch the level, it changes slightly depending on the temperature of the water. If it were to get hot enough, you might see it pee out of the sight glass some more. Merry Christmas!

Chas is exactly right, I do know tap water to 180 degree water will expand up to 4% in 200 gallons that would be 8 gallons. So that's why you see the sight glass vary in levels depending on the temp of the water. Try to keep it around 3/4 full on the glass at it's coldest setting when the trap door opens.

My water level is about  3/4 on the glass.  I added a half quart of treatment the other day and it pissed out a little bit.  It's full

Mine sits a little above half most of the time.  Its about half now.  I will go out soon and pour a milk jug or two of water in the vent tube.

When I filled mine, I ran it over out of the vent tube. I drained some out until it showed about 3/4 on the sight glass. As the stove was coming up to temp, it continued to vent out of the sight glass weep hole. Now it sits at about 3/4 all the time running at 180 degrees.
