General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / What's Your Fire Wood Handling System?
« on: September 03, 2017, 10:10:01 AM »
I'm sure there are some amazing fire wood handling systems between all you forum users. Ran across this the other day.

Did some digging and found this page on the official Wisconsin.gov website. It indicates, among other numbers, that the average Wisconsin household heating with electric spent about $2400. An average water heater will cost an average household approximately $781 per year. From rough figures and miscellaneous articles around the internet, it appears that the average household with a swimming pool spends up to an additional $800 per year heating that(if they heat the pool). Even with the cost of an outdoor boiler rising a bit on average post-EPA, it looks like outdoor boilers may not be a thing of the past yet. Looking forward to this discussion. Comment below what you're heating and what it would cost without the boiler. Are you buying your wood or getting it free? How does that stack up

HeatMaster / GS-Series Prices
« on: June 01, 2017, 07:04:56 PM »
I've had a few people ask about GS-Series pricing. GS-Series pricing is as follows.

GS100   -   $6,995
GS200   -   $8,995
GS400   -   $11,995

Compared to G-Series Prices

G100   -   $8,495
G200   -   $10,995
G400   -   $13,995

Additionally, most HeatMaster dealers now offer financing at 3.99% APR for up to 60 months. That puts payments on a GS100 as low as $128.79/month.Subject to credit approval.

HeatMaster / Dealer Meeting...
« on: May 05, 2017, 02:03:39 PM »
Had a great time at the Wisconsin dealer meeting yesterday. Looking forward to releasing details publicly about the HeatMaster GS-Series. I can clear up that they are still using .409 Stainless Steel, still have the same efficiency and core design as the G-Series and are a good deal less expensive. Official roll out is not until June 1.

Some folks on here requested that HeatMaster add a sight glass to the bottom secondary burn chamber door. And they have answered. They have a fancy new sight glass (see picture and video below) now available on all of the 2017 G-Series.

HeatMaster / Our Experience With the HeatMaster G400
« on: May 05, 2017, 01:24:56 PM »
When I posted that we were installing a HeatMaster G400 last Fall, I said I'd keep you updated. We got around to getting it installed late in the fall, just after the first major snowfall. In past years, we've burned wood we cut from the woods out back. Basically cut it one day and burn it over the next week. Usually we could get by until late December this way before ordering a semi-load, using the semi-load of logs to finish out the heating season. This year we ordered a semi-load in the fall and it lasted all winter. It was cut in October and we started burning it almost immediately, cutting from the pile. My point is it had very little time to dry; basically we were burning green oak. We've so far had no creosote problems (we started the year a bit worried over the lack of dry wood). Overall it doesn't make much ash and makes very little smoke. This spring when our wood ran out, we burned a big tree of wet pine and got the same result. We played with the settings in the controller and programmed it to come on more often as we had a bit of an issue with the fire burning out but since then it's been working great. Other than that, we have abused it almost any way possible and have gotten not a hiccup in response.

HeatMaster is rolling out a new line of boilers sometime in June. Assumedly a second line of gasifiers. I'm looking forward to learning more at the Wisconsin dealer meeting in May.

HeatMaster / New G400
« on: January 06, 2017, 05:50:53 PM »
Finally got our new G400 hooked up(3 weeks ago). Burning 30% moisture white oak with no serious issues. We'll be giving it a workout this winter and I'll keep you updated. The first night we were immediately able to see the wood usage difference.

General Discussion / Interest in OWBs over time.
« on: June 23, 2016, 03:20:25 PM »
According to Google Trends, interest in outdoor wood boilers and interest in propane price has always been directly connected. See chart below. The top line is Google searches for propane price and the bottom is google searches for outdoor wood furnace. Always spikes during the winter. Not surprising but definitely interesting.

Is P&M's gasifier EPA Phase II qualified? I don't see anything on their web site that says it is.
