For this big ole Rock Maple right across the street from my house. The calcium chloride took its toll.
I really hate to see it go but.
I measured the circumference last year, just over 16 ft.

Use real caution cutting that one down Coolidge, looks like it's pretty rotten hearted.

I won't be dropping that, tree company with insurance, some of that wood will probably go through a sawmill.

That would make some beautiful wood for tabletops or outdoor benches if you can keep it from twisting. Dans dad just bought a small Thomas mill, he has always wanted one but never had the time or money, he now has both but now he's to darn old to run it much!

Unfortunately that holds true for a lot of things in life.
My wife and I have discussed it quite a bit. Most of the men on my dads side work till they die, course most of em make it to at least their late 80, most of em make it well into their 90’s. We’d like to travel a lot more, thinking about retiring at 65, would probably keep the hay and beef cattle but rent all the row crop land and grain handling/storage/drying setup out.
With no kids to pass the farm onto seems kinda pointless to beat our heads against the wall forever.
Would like to see Auschwitz before the PC crowd has it torn down. Would also like to see someday Oskar Schindler’s grave and the tree planted in his honor in the Avenue of the Righteous.
Once we are in England visiting the wife’s family Heathrow isn’t that far away and once your at Heathrow the rest of Europe is a stones throw away. Our English cousin is talking of going back to Normandy, can actually camp in the area if so desired. When disembarking from the Chunnel it isn’t that far away in the opposite direction from Normandy to visit Dunkirk. Done Normandy once already, but only spent two days, talking about at least 5 days next time if not a week. Bayeux is a beautiful little French village where we stayed the first time and they actually not only like Americans but welcome us with open arms, if not for our greatest generation they’d probably be speaking German.

My brother has a woodmizer, not shure how big a stick it will hold, might have to bust it in half.
Going to saw out as much as possible and the rest will go to firewood.

The old maple came down today, there wasn't much that wasn't rotten. Big ole tree though.
That cable in the last picture was holding a big leader.
