Title: Looking to buy a BL34-44, do you own one? How do you like it?
Post by: Watt2323 on June 04, 2015, 08:29:16 AM
I am real close to buying a BL 34-44. I have narrowed my choices down to that, a Central Boiler and a Hawken Energy. How do you like your 34-44? I would be heating about 5500 to 6000 sq ft between my home with a basement garage and pole barn as well as my hot water. Thanks in advance.

A location where you are would be helpful, then maybe somebody that is using a BL34-44 in your area will chime in. Winters vary a LOT across this country, what works well for one person may not be enough or overkill for another.

Sorry I thought it was on my info, I live in west central Indiana

It was kinda, a lot of difference between the tropical part of southern Indiana and the arctic part of northern Indiana.

Hello,  I am a Portage and Maine dealer located in Crawfordsville Indiana.  I have several stoves in stock, and would be glad to give you some names of customers I have sold the 34-44 to.  It would be good to come look at them, put your hands on one, and let me point out some of their features.  You can call me at 765-918-1039.  I am available most evenings and weekends for appointments.

Have not been on here in a while, but thought I would comment.   I purchased a 2840 last year and have ZERO complaints.  Recently spoke with Bryan @ PM and the customer service is still top notch.  My choice would be PM but as a veteran of the industry once told me...  Whatever you buy, be proud to burn wood.... which I am.   My 2840 heats a 2800' home and a 1700' shop with no problem.   I almost bought the 3444 but I did not want it to idle.   Mine does what it gets paid to do.   Work.....

Uponthehill glad to hear it. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but hope to in the next week or so. I really like the P&M boilers. BY FAR the best boilers made in my opinion. The refractory cement is a huge plus in my book. I am like a kid on December 22nd I cant wait. With the P&M buring at least 25% less wood than other stoves, how much do you burn?

Same here, on my second year.
Does a great job at retaining  heat while idling during extra long periods, within the fire box and
the water in the water jacket. Easy to operate & easy to clean out the ashes. (sorry to sound like a commercial).

I will be starting my 2nd year with a 28-40 and have no complaints. I did have to do a homemade fix to solve the issue of bricks falling over but as I understand, that problem has been solved.

Sorry guys. I should check the site more often. I burned from a pile last year, but from what I figured I used about 8 to 10 rick. Leaning more towards the 8side. My opinion, VERY efficient stove. Glad I bought B4 it was illegal to buy what I have. Looking forward to this season. I'll burn from racks this year for a better count in the spring. Watt2323, your more than welcome to come by and see mine in operation. Stay warm...

Thanks for he replies. I am glad to hear the great reviews. I have looked at several stoves and I agree with you they are a very superior stove. I love the idea of the efficient heat exchanger they have. I especially like the fact they will burn 25% LESS wood than other stoves. Less work means more fun right? Who's with me?

Second year on  my 2840. So fare I love the ease of the boiler. I had a Woodmaster  before the 2840. I love that you can shut off the blower when it warms up during the day lately. Then switch it back on at night and have it roar to life.

That's a good point I didn't think about. I have talked to a couple people that said they were shocked how easy it was to hook up, a true "plug and play" if you will they said. Did you find it to hook up as well?
