General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / insul seal brochure
« on: August 24, 2017, 03:11:21 AM »
Yes I lost my brochure for insul seal .. I wanted to see what elbows they made . I think I need a 22.5 degree to make a sweep back out of the ground . I been digging on net with out any luck . Stuff works awesome if you need a long term setup . I have a 50 foot run I installed in 2015 I put in I think they call them 22.5 degree elbows on each end to come out of the ground . I run a bunch of temp tests on it .. with my touch-less and touch testers Its always same temp at boiler as it is in house with ex changers off. Its like the Best way to deal with it yes mine was incased in sand all around it . 3-4 inchs otherwise Its all hard pan clay here . you dig a hole you just made a pond .LOL anyone know where I can find a insul seal brochure let me know .  :bash:

I was wondering If alot Guys are using shark bite on air heat ex changers ?  I have to install a 22x22 exchanger  1 inch in and out on top a furnace
and sharkbite would be better then heating up the exchanger any thoughts on them ?

Also has anyone tryed out the stainless steel double walled side arms 38inch  1 inch boiler ports ? 18,000 btu ?

I have lots of plumbing to do .

I have 20 year old taco 007 and 10 year old 011 I have had no troubles with any of them . but there older ones .
Whats most reliable Pumps today ?

I have to install another system for family and its going to be a big job .
furnace and a coil and heat ex changer on top .. to make it more interesting furnace has bigger fan 2000 cfm so has big boost like box with filter that goes under the up draft furnace for cold air return . . going with 22x22 heat ex changer fits the hole best 3.5 thick . target 130,000 btus . Its a big house 3800 sqft 3 levels to heat. 42.5 pounds of oak at 20 % per hour when fans on :) only thing that's good its a well insulated home :)

Heat550

side note has anyone figured out how to plumb air heat exchanger so you pull it out during the summer months ? and
plumbings not a issue ... like use that blue semi radiator hose .. or keep pex long enough to flex that much ? Because
pulling air heat ex changer out for summer would be way less air drag .  any info be great .  :bash:

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / furnance heat exchanger
« on: June 28, 2017, 02:43:31 AM »
Has anyone installed a heat ex changer in a furnance where the a coil goes .. I just had a ponder at furnace
in my second house .. It be pretty easy to put a heat exchanger in there its Lp gas furnace.  Has a A coil in it now
but the cooling systems not hooked up ( window air conditioners can do great job of cooling)  .
Maybe a coil and heat exchanger fit in there that be pretty sweet but it be alot for the fan to push thru .
any advise be great . Its only a 1344 sqft house no basement . Boiler already hooked to fan in a closet
sounds crud . but its tightly fit to top of closet very custom fit 12x18 exchanger output 70,000 btus . living room can be 80f at any outside temp.
but another in the furnace would give whole house a more even heat going thru duct work . but can furnace
Handel the heatmor boiler temps 160f air .

Heatmor / subzero 400 heating 6600sqft woodathon
« on: January 09, 2017, 02:58:57 AM »
Im amazed it would still do a 10-12 hour burn at -18f and I don't have the dryest wood .. But a full 400 dcss
is alot of wood .. 1/4 of a real cord per load .. 4 days 2 clean outs 1 cord proof .. 6600sqft  first house 60f garage 50f shop 50f other house
76f there is a 400dcss work out .. There was char on the walls in side a pretty tan to white flakes . Thats the first real cold snap
I dealt with last winter was pretty wimpy .. But that thing can really burn the wood . I had frost caked to the surrounding trees by boiler from the chimney smoke .. those trees are 20 feet away from boiler and branches the where white with frost were about 10 feet away from chimney about 20 feet high . I have extension on smoke stack . Its a crazy stove BTU monster . theirs a bit of a secret
so get it to burn that hot . 6 inchs of coals 3 of the dryest 50 inch oak logs 4 inch dia and then fill until you cant fit no more in . it will get dam hot
between burns .. I think the dry logs force and moisture out of the above wood LOL  I had crazy psyco sparks shotting 30 foot high out of the chimney..  both the 200 I had before and 400 do burn alike difference its little trickier  on the 400 to get a full grate of coals going to start with before a full loading  anyone that has one will know what Im talking about ..

Fire Wood / Husqavarna 353
« on: December 27, 2016, 04:00:24 AM »
I have parts on order going to a 16 inch 3/8 chain on the 353 .. the .325 chain gets chips under chain all the time and sharpening it alot . 3/8 should fix that issue ..  you order parts for rancher 55 it will fit the 353 . Mines a 353g heated grips and carb . I also changing out muffler runs way to hot in the summer .. But need to adjust carb also if i change muffler . 353 is a crazy little saw. if you try one youll love it for limbing and bucking to 14 inch . and very lite saw . super sharp chain is the keey to cutting crazyness with this saw . any other input be great if others have this saw .

days later

Fire Wood / husqavarna 77cc .404
« on: December 27, 2016, 03:52:04 AM »
Ok I sharpen my own chains and i was thinking on going to .404 so sharpening would be less .
anyone have any input on using .404 chain saw chain . Im thinking on 16 inch bar or 20 inch for bigger logs .
I do know with my sharpening 77 cc will be more then enough power . if its a issue on 20 inch bar I will just set
rakers at .020 .. any input be great . I have pretty healthy husky 77cc . but next saw might be a dolmar 78cc
they look identical to my old 1981 husqavarna 77 . ya look at price of 576xp husqavarna ya wow ..

Fire Wood / semi loads of wood.
« on: December 17, 2016, 12:56:57 PM »
Has anyone figured out good math on semi loads because 4'x4'x8' in 8ft length is not same as split 4x4x8 cord . Reading on net. There Saying in 8ft length cord only yeilds about 100cuft where split is 128 cuft this would really change math to my wood consumption. And down grade my semi load sizing . Any thoughts on this beside buying a woods to cut my own lol.

Heatmor / thermo exspansion water Bladder
« on: November 22, 2016, 03:57:20 AM »
Bladder math ... is 4 % expansion on water 65-180f the right math?   I have 185 gallons total in system and that works out to 7.4 gallon expansion
at 65f I have a empty bladder and at 170f its almost full .  It says in book tire tube ( bladder hold 8 gallons ) .. Is that 4% expansion.
Right ?  The bad part at start up in fall I can not tell where the water level is because bladders empty at 65f .. How does everyone else do it ? I can fire it to 100f and make sure there's water in bladder . Must be the way to do it. my old 200css Did not have as much water so it always had water in bladder at 65 f .

might be my 3 zones just add a lot more water .

Heatmor / Boiler temp drop math
« on: February 13, 2016, 02:08:42 AM »
Is there away to figure out how many BTU's are going out of Boiler by using the amount of temp drop in each zone ?
I know Im running close to average 5-10 GPM average on all zones x3 . even at 55 degree temp drop at boiler below 0f  all fan on .
Im not seeing any big difference in wood going throw stove . I did math other way by using radiator out put  and air exchanger out
put to fan size 55 degress temp drop on water was 209,000 BTU's  reason Im asking is Im starting to figure out the problems in my system .
This is the 400dcss .

I was used to the old 200css just draft if would ever shut off I was amazed below 0f its a big difference with bigger stove
400dcss is a work horse
