Heatmor / Heatmor 400 testing
« on: February 01, 2016, 02:42:04 AM »
I was cleaning the boiler out and let it burn down till water temp of 70f . outside temp was 23f . Ok started fire wood 1/2 dry oak
so I build fire maybe 6 -24 inch pieces 10 inch dia. 4 - 52 inch pieces 4 inch dia. I got it to go from 70f to 140f in 27 minutes  flat . I timed it using the front temp gauge .  Yes I had crazy sparks coming out chimney . But think that's 170 gallons raising 70 degrees in 27 minutes . That is some crazy Dragon action .  That's  2.59 degrees a minute . Don't forget thats all air ex changers fans on x3 and baseboards, water heater . that's pulling water temp down on top of that.  To me that's some crazy heating power . Bit like a drag race Dragon style .

P.s. to start fire I just used gallon can of wood chips and 2 news papers that's it .

Heatmor / 400dcss throwing sparks
« on: January 18, 2016, 01:10:14 AM »
Has anyone else noticed this ? 400dcss is a spark launcher from chimney between cycles . I have sparks shooting out about 10 feet . every once in while .this is after all moisture out of wood . I'm burning about 25% moisture oak right now .  this all started after putting in all dry oak . wonder if its crackle wood :)  I looked there little pieces of black carbon looking pieces . Im guessing I'm just burning  build up off in flu and chimney as its -17f right now . Might need some kind of cap or something slow down the launching .
old 200css had one of the stainless steel caps . If i wasn't in middle of bunch of oak trees I wouldn't care but leaves do burn :)

Plumbing / pex valves / pex-al-pex plastic ring .
« on: November 10, 2015, 12:55:08 AM »
I was looking I need about 10 x 1 inch pex valves and I seen ever-flow makes pex 1 inch with drain . I have all watts ball valves here now on stove . Is ever -flow a good ball valve also ? these will be used inside house with pex 1inch barrier. I never heard of them .

Pex-al-pex fittings ...I have 1 inch compression fitting they have a plastic ring in bottom to but up against the end of the pex -al-pex
when its pushed all the way in .  My old ones these rings are all cracked and deteriorated. on all 6 I have . do I need the plastic rings in there ? if there not in there I can just push pex -al-pex in farther . does the aluminum core in pex interact with the brass ?  or whats really the reason there in there ?  any info be great. deep in to plumbing .  :bag:

Plumbing / 1 inch pex 3 way zone valve
« on: October 04, 2015, 01:49:20 AM »
Hi all

Do they make 3 way zone valve with pex ends or theaded
So you can screw pex connectors in to them. Instead of sweeting
Let me know as this might be wish full thinking. 19 years ago I ended up replacing 2 because of leaks it was costly mistake.
At this point I know hotter torch would of done the trick. But theads or pex end would be easyer to deal with. Thanks for any info.

Plumbing / zones plumbing want to add air exchangers
« on: August 27, 2015, 02:01:27 AM »
The one house only .
Ok I have 2 zones I want to add air exchangers . one upstairs one down stairs . Baseboards don't give off enough heat .
I have 6 zones total I'm heating  . question is would 2-  12x18 air exchanges cause alot of drag on my water pump ?
I have a 011 taco pump .  and next question whats the best control to use to kick fans on when zone is hot and calling for heat .
I have to drain lines so I need to install everything I need at once . ( trying to think of everything ) problem I have is when its
colder say below 15f  waters nice and hot But Im not getting enough heat off the water its going back to the stove only
4-6 degrees cooler . after install 2 more air heat exchangers  I will have one 18x20 ( garage )  qnd 2- 12x18  air exchangers in system
and the 6 zones total .  for house 26x42  split entry finished upstair and down stairs and garage .

Heat550

all my zones are 3/4 pipe also . 1 inch pex al pex coming in from stove split in to 2 before going to all zone valves .

I was just wondering if they will run out of the old style boilers early before jan 1 the 200css and 400css 100css .
or its just market trickery . anyone paying attention knows older one are better . thought there be more of buying frenzy.
any dealers running out of old style or they build enough to flood market .    :pic:
