I have some plumbing to redo for woodboiler and was just wondering if anyone had a good way to remove the crimps on pex pipe without damaging fitting and possibly without damaging the pex.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks

If it is a crimp ring then use the same tool to break the ring by turning the tool while it is crimping the ring then slightly warm up the pex, it should slide right off.

Do you have copper crimp rings or stainless cinch clamps? If copper rings, you probably will need to cut them. They make a tool for it but a hacksaw or other tool can also be used. If the Stainless clamps, you should be able to do like mentioned above. You may also be able to just pop them apart with a screw driver or cut them.

To get the pex off, if it is long enough, just bend it back and forth as you pull on it. Bending will stretch the end enough to get it off. You need to cut the end off the pex before you put it back on and re-crimp it.

Ok so basically the crimps are not good to use in places where you may need to take the pipe apart in the future ecspecially if you do not have any extra slack in the pipe?  If so what would be a better connector?  How about the hose clamps from central boiler?

If you want to take it apart again I've had good luck with sharkbite oring push fittings.  Like these http://www.supplyhouse.com/SharkBite-Fittings-595000

If you want to take it apart, use a union.
If you use the clamps from Central Boiler, you should still cut off the end. The groves inside the pex from the barb are what you are cutting off.

What kind of connection are you going to? If at a valve, you can use a flange valve and a pump flange for a union.
If going to sweat, dielectric unions work well. If going to pipe thread, you can use a pex x FPT swivel fitting. If going to pex, you can use a union or a MPT x pex adapter on one side and a pex x FPT swivel on the other.

If it is something that is not real likely to be taken apart, it is best if you can just leave a little slack and just trim off the end of the pex and re-crimp every time.

You can try not cutting off the end before re-crimping but there is a lot more chance of a leak if you don't.
