I want to build a big wood shed this coming summer, and I would like to put my OWB inside it also.  But yesterday, I was filling the stove and there was a ton of smoke coming out the door.  Not sure if it was related to wet wood, bad wood, the price of beer, whatever.... it doesn't happen alot that I get a bunch of smoke coming out the door, but it does happen once in a while.
I sure was glad it was a nice windy day so the smoke went out of my face quickly.

I was thinking that if my OWB was inside a wood shed, it'd be pretty smoky in there....

Does anyone here have that problem or not?

ig et that now and then, but my wood shed is not insulated or "leak" proof. it holds out the water buthas many little cracks for any puffs of smoke to get out and it is a 12 foot ceilingat the peak and escapes out the vent there

my uncles stove is inside his 30 x 50 insulated shed and he says he gets a puff now and then but says most of the time if he opens the door just a bit and waits a minute or so untill the draft gets going good through the door then smoke is not a problem (most times)

My stepdad put an old kitchen stove hood about 3 or 4 ft above the door of his owb, works great, vents out

This summer my buddy built a pole shed..All sides are open with a metal roof..Furnace is in pole shed..Pretty slick...Doenst have to deal with tarps or cleaning off snow to get to wood..The wood stacked under pole shed acts as a wall where wood is stacked..Front and back of OWB is open so smoke can go out

A buddy of mine just installed a new boiler and put the front of it just through the side of a wood shed he had deliverd for it.He then put an exhaust fan in the wall to suck out the smoke.I haven't been over since he got it all going ,but he said the fan works great.

I just put my new stove under a shed with a metal roof and open sides.  It works great, lots of dry wood stacked out of the rain and snow, and enough breeze so you can load it without choking to death.  And if the tree huggers outlaw the owb I can put sides on it and I won't have a owb anymore.  If you are puting one in a enclosed building you will definetly want a exhaust hood above the door opening.

Sometimes the simplest ideas, are the ones you haven't thought of yet....

I'll do the exhaust fan idea.

I'm planning on somwhere around 20'X20' with around 8-9' sides.  All enclosed with removable sides, no insulation, and not very well sealed.  Just to keep the wet and wind out basically.

 I have installed furnaces where guys use exhaust fans, everyone I talk to says they work great. Some of them have even installed them where the fan comes on when they turn on the light on the furnace.

My stove in completely inside my wood shed.  I just open the ash pan door and let the fire get going.  It still gets pretty smokey though.  I tried using a 6" duct booster (fan for duct work in house) hooked to flexible pipe and then to a register vent above the door and it didn't work very well.

I just built a 24/32 ploe barn . Have 3 big doors and one walk out. Smokes not a big problem for the amount of time i open the door. If i'm going to have it open for more than a couple minutes i just open a couple doors.I have a ridge vent up top as well. Still like the exhaust fan idea though. Thanks for sharing. I just added that to my list .LOL . I was worried about this before I built the garage and the best i could come up with was a rod hanging down hooked to a small door in the roof. The fan idea is better.
