I don't know the model number of the AUBE thermostat that I have.  I was told that it was designed for hydronic floor heating, it has been in my shop now going on 14 years and works great.  When the room temp calls for heat, it turns the pump on and the pump runs for a short time and it will shut off and allow the water temp to recover and then turn back on automatically, it will continue to do this until it reaches the set point. there are 4-5 dip switches that you can setup to use it for different applications. If I recall correctly I got mine from Menards.  Hope this helps.

Natures Comfort / Re: Any Nature's Comfort owners still here?

I put some insulation material around the shaker grate lever to limit the air that can get through that hole.  I have never ran my stove in warm weather and never had it ever get more than 2-3 degrees over the set point.

I have the 275G- coal burner model.  About to start the second season on it here soon.  I did not try any coal in it yet.

I had the 3 speed pumps from natures comfort on my stove to , I could not figure out why my electric bill did not go down much after shutting off my electric water heater.  I finally got a kill-a-watt meter and checked the pumps,  Low speed was 220 watts, Medium was 255 watts and High was 285 watts.  :bash: I don't know how many gpm they pump.  My heat loops are each under 100' each way.

You are actually just pre-heating the water with the plate exchanger before it enters the water heater.  You will have to leave the water heater element/burner on to maintain the temp. in the storage tank.

Plumbing / Re: what else did u put in your "boiler line trench"
« on: March 20, 2013, 06:06:58 PM »
If I had it to do over again I would bury a 3/8 or 1/2" compressed air line from my shop to the boiler underground in the same trench.  I use one out there from time to time to aid in cleaning out the stove, if I had one buried I wouldn't have to stretch 80ft of hose from my shop every time I want to use it. It really works good !!  A small pancake compressor will also work, but doesn't have much volume.

3gpm on barn loop and house loop is pumping over 5 gpm. return water temps are never under 165 and over 8 gpm of water circulation in the stove, works great.

I replaced one of the energy hog pumps (245watts on medium setting) with a alpha pump 2 years ago, works great. Running it on the medium setting on a 100ft loop to my pole barn. Pumping 3gpm at 35watts.  $162 on e-bay.

hey Mike
I don't have all the answers either but you definetly want your pump running 24/7 to circulate the water in the stove as well as the loop to your house.  Next thing I would do is get some temp readings to see how much heat you are losing to the ground from your lines.  I would guess that is where you are losing btu's, especially if the soil is wet ! If all you have is foam without any protection the foam will be compressed by the dirt and will lose its insulating value.   Next thing is 3/4" lines are probably not big enough to move enough btu's even if they where well insulated.  I think if you replaced your underground lines with a good quality 1" or even 1 1/4" insulated line in a casing to keep it dry your wood/coal consumption will be only a fraction of what you are using now.  Good Luck
