RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Water color?

Shut it down for the year. I was curious so I caught some of the water from the stove in a jar. It was yellow, like a light beer yellow.
Is that normal??

I have been guilty of overloading the fire box, sometimes less is better.

We are on our forth year, and it has worked fine. I need a new door gasket, I tried the WD-40 trick but no luck.
Ours works good for our climate, Tennessee. I would think it might fall short in a colder part of the country.
I will try putting some wood in the back of the fire box, I have always loaded it toward the front.

Is there a Wi Fi aquastat on the market?
It would be handy to be able to track my temps from my phone. Could avoid some headaches if your phone could alert you if temps were rising.

Fired ours up this past Monday. Temps are still mild here in Tennessee, good to get it going before it gets real cold.
We also have a Ridgewood, this is our fourth season

Sprayed it down with WD yesterday, it soaked it up.
Everything running like it should. Looks like the middle of the week I will be shutting it down for the year.

I'll give the WD40 tip a try.
I hung a counter weight on the door latch to help snug up the door and adjusted the tension on the latch a litle. I am going to remove the counter weight today, I will be home to keep an eye on it. It seems to be back to normal.

I have a Ridgewood stove
The damper was shut when I got to it, but could have stuck open. I never thought of that. The fire was flaming inside the stove when I opened the door. It was burning good.
The gasket looks to be in good shape, I have seen worse. I will most likely be shutting down next week, but will be keeping an eye on it until then.

About had a boil over yesterday, happen to be home and caught it. Thank goodness.
How often would the door gasket need to be changed? Air was getting in from somewhere so I am guessing my gasket is bad. It's 3 years old.
Thanks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Crazy Weather
« on: January 20, 2017, 05:56:12 PM »It was 70 here this past Saturday. Mid 60's this week, lows in the 50's. Not looking like temps will be dropping until late next week.
Low wood usage this year I guess
Where is here?
Just South of Nashville Tn

High this past Saturday was 25, low 6. This Thursday the high is going to be 65, lows in the 50's.
Its been pretty mild so far this year, until this past weekend. I sure can tell a difference in wood use when its colder. I don't see how you guys up North keep up.
