Plumbing / Re: A question for the experts on flat plate heat exchangers
« on: December 30, 2015, 06:16:59 PM »
We try to lay them sideways or vertical. Outlets down should not be a problem on 20 or 30 plate with as much flow as you have. It's those tall ones I'd worry about. You got the right idea, it's air lock and sediment you need to be cautious about.

Regulations / Re: U.S. House passes protection for wood stove users

That would be court actions in both cases? Shows my ignorance, I just never saw catalytic converters come off autos or 2007 truck standards being revoked. things we deal with daily. I need to do my research before I give my opinion.

One of the questions I have had is whether EPA is going to enforce their rule? As had been mentioned, Companies that have spent the money on r&d could be at a disadvantage. Its hard to win a game if the rules are not enforced or get changed during the game.

If you notice this was article is dated Dec. 8. All the comments in the wood stove industry that I have seen give it very little chance in the senate and I read Obama said he will veto it. If it had much chance of becoming law it would have been big news. Very much like some states passing laws against federal EPA,s rulings and declaring victory over the feds. I think these rules are here to stay, we need to learn to deal with it like it or not. However there is some hope to modify the 2020 standard before it takes effect. have you ever seen an EPA rule overturned after it went into effect?

Is neither the fan nor the solenoid working? Could be the high limit or stat. If solenoid lifts but no fan, then fan problem.

I'm burning wood now, have burned a little coal. There is a lot of variations in coal and we get good and bad. I knew someone in southern Indiana that tried burning coal and they said it had a lot of slag in it, wouldn't hardly burn. I think it still crushes and burns in a blast furnace o.k. I understand western coal has less BTU per pound but burns more like wood. It's not compacted as tight.Heatmaster uses it to heat their plant. Great for a outdoor furnace. I heard of someone trying a lump of coal in a gasser, said it did good until gas was burned  off but just stopped up the hole with what was left. Most of smokeless coal units are commercial blast that I've heard of. Just a big hurdle to make a small unit work like that.

That stove looks nice and dry, just dust. My son and son in law are burning a G100 and G200 and are putting the pressure on the old man to get a G200. Just stuck in my old ways and love the way my C375 does. Pics like this just adds fuel to their side of the argument. Just stuck in a rut. Can't even use a smart phone.

Yes we've been looking, found some sodium free but lots sugar or low carb with lots of sodium. we'll come up with some sort of trial runs and find something eatable. Made some salt free 100% deer sausage, two flavors not too bad.Trying for one more slick head and put the whole thing in jerky.Got 2wks left but they are gettin' hard to see in daylight.

physical therapy- yes. Her problem we think is from damaged nerves from an earlier herniated disc which has now scared and is inflaming which any movement. They are afraid to go back in and result in more scar tissue or damaging more nerves. Looking at the possibility of a pain pump. We had a procedure done they said was experimental is why insurance wouldn't pay.

Sorry to hear about your wife's issues. Got to respect you for hanging in there. My wife has had three back surgeries over the last three years. Most doctors have given up except for an Egyptian doc that's trying hard to find her some relief. First year for us on obamacare. $10600 per year in insurance payments then another $55000 in deductables and non covered bills this year.  Straying a little from Deer jerky making.

HeatMaster / Re: Crossing return lines, better circulation?

Got mine same side, works great. Have seen some people cross and that works too. I think the larger units like a MF10000 with one system hookup might be better if crossed. Smaller units like the C125 have only one set of ports and they are on one side , so I take it that the manufacture doesn't see a big advantage in crossover.

Make sure you don't bite the hand that feeds you even if the the food isn't perfect or on time, or it my not come at all next time. Call your dealer a fly by night and a few other choice words over a stuck damper and I don,'t think I'd call back either. And remember Heatmaster reads these forums too and if your really in trouble they may not want to get involved with a unreasonable situation. Helping out each other and blessing each other even in hard situations is grease that keeps things going.Bless Scott and give him a good word when life is busy and rough and he'll bust his tail for you.
