Title: Gassers - what's the longest you've gone between cleanings?

I am just curious as to how long people have gone without a cleaning.  And how often you are cleaning on average?  I got a little busy and neglectful and went 6 weeks.  I live in NJ and our weather hasn't been that cold until now so I figured I needed to get to cleaning my P&M 250.  The brushes were a little tighter than usual going through the heat exchange tubes but not terrible  Ashes at both ends of the heat exchange tubes were pretty deep but the stove was still burning relatively smoke free.  I burn a lot of partially rotted yet well seasoned wood that is a by product of me selling firewood and try to clean it every other weekend during the heavy burning season.

Hi jrider - I clean  my gasser every other week if it's operating well.  If it's not, I'll clean at the end of that week.  Roger

6 weeks!  My goodness, I have to clean once a week with the amount of wood I burn.  10 days is the absolute max before everything gets too full of ash. 

My typical cleaning nets around 6-7 gallons of ash.

I went 6 weeks before...  normally went 2-3 weeks

I have a buddy with a pro 400 and he uses the proformer additive and cleans it 3-4 times per winter

hey guys-only had my 250 for 2 months running now, everything i've read is the 7-14 day range. all dependent on wood types and demand. i took some advise from slim jim and installed a candy thermometer just prior to stack and he wanted 260-280 for temp range. he said as temps got to 330 ish it was time to clean the boiler. it cost 15.00$ took all of 10 minutes and is a nice tool to monitor the bioler.

6-7 gallons of ash?  Holy cow!  After 6 weeks and close to 3 cords of punky wood, I only had about 3-4 gallons worth.  I do like the sounds of that thermometer on the stack.

Thanks for trying it willowbrook, help me justify that tool by calling or E-Mailing Brian, we should be installing it at the factory, everybody with a gasser should, I  once went 7 weeks of shows, shutting the boiler down between shows and evenings, PLEASE don't try this at home folks.

First time I went 2.5 weeks. I cleaned it all out last saturday and this morning The ashes inside are getting pretty thick in the back. I will be trying to clean every saturday just to keep up on it and keep it quick. Took me a whole 8 minutes. I haven't got but maybe 4 gallon of ash since firing it up the week before thanksgiving.
