Nice job Greg !!!!!!

Thanks SlimJim,
I owe the credit to my daughter-in-law, Natalie Steinacher.

She did a great job! Is this something that you have just started to get into? I have done a couple of jobs that were tied into solar but the homeowner did that portion, I simply tied it together, seems to work very well, no complaints at all from them.
-
slimJim,
Just getting started. It is real interesting. Seems to work well though.

I tried many years ago to pair up with our local govt. subsidized solar guys as it seemed to be a great idea but they would have no part in OWB's because of all the bad publicity that OWB's were getting from our state DEP, I sure would like to see some people succeed in this market but I think it needs to be privately funded, you already know how I feel about subsidies!

I think the KOCH Brothers are trying to tax solar and wind out of business. :bash:
-
To All,
30% tax credit on Solar.
These Solar Hot Water Heaters qualify for the 30% tax credit (rebate). This is total cost of the unit or units and the installation cost with no limit.

To all,
Hooked the Solar Hot Water heater to the pool just using a copper loop over the side.
Started on Tuesday, May 27th, water temperature was 69 degrees at start in the pool. Ran the pump on the Solar Heater a couple times a day at about 1/2 an hour each time. By Saturday, May 31st, the water temperature was 82 degrees. I was happy with the results!
I have a hard time putting pictures on this site. If you want pictures I can send them to you.

Hi Greg
I have been importing and selling solar water heaters for 5 years now, it is a slow hard market, still quite new to US and Canada.
There work great and is all anybody needs for there hot water 3 seasons of the year.
Things are just starting to get going for me after 5 years, that people see they really work, and they start telling others.
All the best to you.
Kyle

solarman,
Have you hooked a Solar Hot Water Heater to any wood furnaces yet. If so how are they working? What size are you using and so on?
They are doing a lot of the this in a Ohio area and it seems to be doing well!

I have not tried them on outdoor furnaces, just for domestic hot water.
I use the compact style with tank on top like yours, some pressured 316 stainless with watts safety valves, and some non pressured with the copper coils.
I think for hooking up to a furnace that a collector style would be best with no tank, the furnace would become the water tank.
The 50/60 tube vertical style, sitting beside the furnace, would work with no pumps through natural convection.
Kyle
-
Kyle,
I was afraid the solar tubes would burst without a pump. (overheat)
What is your thoughts on hooking up for natural convection? These are horizontal 60 tube!

Greg
They should work great without a pump, as long as a good part of the boiler water level is above the solar collector.
I would not worry about the tubes breaking do to heat, they can take a lot.
They can take some cold as well, I have tried water in the tubes down to -25C with no problems of freezing.
Hope it works well for you.
I may order some of this type collectors on my next order.

Kyle,
As you can see in the picture the unit is as high as the water level in the furnace I could use a pump on a thermostat and let it run on a water temperature demand at the outdoor furnace and use the one with the tank on top!
Shaver had one on a outdoor furnace and the pump stopping and it burst a couple tubes on the water heater that's why I mentioned the over heating.
A customer has one in Ohio and it got to -40 last year and it did not freeze, that is amazing!
Greg
-
Greg,
I'm sure you've looked into it but the company that sells my unit is able to give a rebate on the stove itself as well.
As long as the solar panels are purchased along with the stove all but the firebox can be incorporated into the solar system.
He able to give a tax rebate on the "Solar Storage" his units incompass.
-
fryedaddy,
That's good to know, makes good sense!
Thank You
