we own a sawmill and have an unlimited supply of chips.would like to build an addon to my boiler
looking to do more of a batch burn with it
wondering if a pellet stove motor would be strong enough to turn a 2-3 inch auger say 20 inches long
input on the burner would be great
really any input especially from diy'ers would be great
thnx

not gonna happen, chips move really hard and will require a stout drive system!

Smallest most common auger you're gonna find is a 3" which is meant to run in a 4" tube. Most common means cheaper, you might be able to find a 2" auger but it might be as much for a foot of it as 3 foot of 3".
Watch Ebay for a small gear reduction motor in the 1/4 to 1/2 horse range, might even want to go heavier. I'd imagine something in the 10-20 rpm range would be plenty fast. Depending on the size of your auger might want to go even slower or look into a VFD or a 90V DC motor with a dial adjust speed control.

I'm wanting to say they use a 6-8" auger in theirs?
I think the OP is talking about saw chips while P&M's is meant to burn chipped trees.

I have had folks ask about selling tanks and augers, I sent them to our office for pricing, not sure if they bought or not!
