Plumbing / Expansion tank on storage tank
« on: March 10, 2019, 03:58:54 PM »
Been a while since ive posted
But i have an issue
My 300 lbs storage tank seems to be building pressure
It is below the level of the boiler outside
I seem to think it looks ''bulkier'' then before
I changed out the tank this year for a new one
I batch burn twice a day
My boiler is vented outside
But my storage tank is not really vented
Just the line going out to boiler .
So do i need an expansion tank on the storage.
Or should i just vent it outdoors higher then the boiler
I had no problem with my old tank.
But like i said it seems to be bulkier
Thnx guys

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / what could have been done?
« on: February 12, 2016, 10:34:32 AM »
i've been thinkin on starting this thread for a while.
i live in canada  and don't hear this epa crap much.
but for what its worth what do you all think could have been done to make conventional owb more appealing
to the greenies.any designs or burning methods etc to reduce smoke and emissions.
everyone knows what you don't see won't bother others.
just wanted to start a discussion on ways that could have helped the old designs .?

we own a sawmill and have an unlimited supply of chips.would like to build an addon to my boiler
looking to do more of a batch burn with it
wondering if a pellet stove motor would be strong enough to turn a 2-3 inch auger say 20 inches long
input on the burner would be great
really any input especially from diy'ers would be great

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / diy boiler water chemicals
« on: September 12, 2014, 04:08:26 AM »
this may sound stupid, iand i am by no means cheap, but wouldn`t you basic
pool water treatment work on a boiler say p.h +or ph-.why i say this is cause we have a steam boiler at
work and the tube took to leaking.a local has knew an old man who did boiler repair.
he came and checked it out and said the any water ph balancer could be used in a boiler if test were
done and it was added in the right quantities.   SOOOO what you think ???
