If the pump was at the stove, it would have all the head it needs.

Find something fun to do with the remaining propane (big BBQ cookout at the house?) and then tell them to come get their tank off of your property.

Just don't let them try to charge you for them to pick up their tank...

Plumbing / Re: home made heat exchanger for water heater
« on: April 08, 2010, 06:22:58 AM »
A really simple water to water heat exchanger is to run one pipe inside of another.  Run your domestic cold water through the pipe on the inside and your heated water in the opposite direction inside the outer pipe.

Arrived at home safely.  It was after dark by the time I got it off the trailer and sitting on a patch of gravel.  I had a friend come over with his very large tractor and he lifted it while I drove the trailer out from under.  Once I get everything ready to go, I'll have him come move it for me.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Picking up my Heatmor tomorrow

 ;D

I took off work, using my last personal day (which was my "raise" from last year) so I didn't lose any leave hours.  I'll be driving 3 hours to load it on a trailer and bring it home.

I have a very old oil burner forced air system and I'm using a 22x22 heat exchanger in my plenum

I have no idea how to hook up the electrical for my OWB.  I know I need a 2nd thermostat and that's about it.  My transformer on my oil burner is 40A.  I'll have one zone controlled by a taco ball zone valve and a circulator pump always running.  I have no idea what I need to buy!

I figure the workaround is that if you have shaker grates, you can burn coal (most of the restrictions are only on outdoor WOOD boilers) or building a shed around it making it an INDOOR wood boiler.

and the guys with gassifiers will say we burn way too much wood in our smoke dragons too.  i don't really care, i spent thousands less than they did and split, cut wood is free for me.

i like keeping the mess outside and the fact that it's a lot less likely i'm going to burn my house down by burning outside.

There's nothing wrong with going with an oversized pump and using a  fan speed control rheostat to turn it into a variable speed pump.  Too much pump, and you can turn the speed down until the water moves at an acceptable speed.  Too little pump, and you're stuck with either upgrading or adding a pump.
