General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: What's with Empyre?

Out of business no warranty.  Warranty sucked anyhow.  Would not stand behind anything.  Many people including myself are out everything.  Left with a 3 year old pile of scrape metal.  Their stainless upgrade was just to cover up manufacturing and design flaws.
100% true! They screwed me. Stainless fix was a joke! I have nothing good to say about my warranty on my 3 year old pro 200. It does a amazing job. The people that designed the box for the blower didn't. I will be battling the metal on that box until I cut it off and weld something better on. Empyre told me to pound salt.

160 on and 170 off. Said it was to cold so I moved it to 170 on and 180 off. This morning I noticed the water level had dropped on the gauge by 1/4. It has never dropped that much over two days in the last three years? Im not sure if it boiled out that fast or not.

Well after a month of playing phone tag with a customer service department that won't call you back I talked to Ben today and he pretty much told me I'm up crap creek. Said to fix it my self by cutting the box off and welding a new one on then send them a bill and they will see if they will reimburse me. WTF? Said it was all my fault because I didn't setup my boiler cut out temp to 180 and I should have known. I was told NOT to change the temp settings on the aquastat. What the heck should I do? The boiler isn't even 3 years old. I'm at the point to were I think I should look into talking to a lawyer. Am I jumping the gun? Im fckin sick of dealing with pro fab and getting the run around.

Called again today and left a message with warranty claims. They haven't called me back yet. I feel as if I'm already getting the run around. yesterday as soon as I told the women my problems she was quick to say the internet was down. Now she won't call me back. I hope I'm just speculating.

Thanks Maverick I'll have to try that. Pro fab wasn't any help today there internet was down.

It happened again. Went to clean the black goo out of the blower box and to no surprise low and behold right above the sweet stainless fix that I installed two years ago I can put 4 fingers through the metal that's left on the blower box. Will be calling profab Monday morning. This should not happen on a 3 year old boiler.

Smashed the holy crap out of two fingers once, probably should have gone to ER.

Was working on the kitchen installing new subfloor during the remodel, went out to load the boiler before I forgot, had a nice large piece and as I took a step forward to chuck it in my knee popped and I barely stumbled but was enough to cause a misstep, didn’t let go fast enough and smashed ring and middle between the wood and the door frame. Wife seen it after I did it and about threw up, made me go in and bandage it up, had nothing but large gauze so I told her to get the kitchen shears, she brought em in and before she could say anything I took em and cut the loose meat off, then she did throw up.

Got em bandaged up and went back to screwing subfloor down. Ate a few of her Vicodin she had left over after her last open heart, 500mgs. Then drank a beer, screwed and glued another piece down, ate a few Vicodin and had a beer. Never did quit throbbing. Went to the VFW as it was dollar beer night and drowned my sorrow in cheap beer and a few more Vicodin. Did I mention I can eat most prescription painkillers like Skittles and they have little to no effect?
my teeth hurt because of biting so hard reading that!

I bought mine from this site. http://www.altheatsupply.com/ Looks to be the same one that was on the boiler. I wasn't happy that mine lasted a year. We will see how long this one lasts.....

Mines set up stock at 160 on 170 off. My boiler also sets up hill with the loading door higher than the rear of the boiler. So if its making any creosote it runs to the back.

Yea I put the fix on last summer and did a write up/step by step on it on this forum. Search posts with my screen name and you should find it.

I feel the same way. I'm so glad that they went to a complete stainless boiler. Wish I would have known about that before I bought mine ::) :bash: Do you have the stainless "fix" to the forced air box?

Would taking the flapper off the front of the blower make unwanted draft and burn more wood? If it didn't hurt wood consumption I could see it possibly helping out with the creosote build up in the fan draft box.

I have the same nasty gooey creosote in my box. I don't over stoke the fire box like last year. I have had to clean my forced air box 3 times this year and its been really nasty inside. Not sure what to do either. I would think taking out that stainless flap door inside the main fire box door would be a bad idea? Maybe not.

Regulations / Re: Final EPA ruling
« on: February 10, 2015, 04:47:17 PM »
Its all about government control. They can't tax wood yet so right now this is the next best solution. My neighbor is about 500 yards from my boiler. He asks me once a month if I have my boiler going. Good dry wood and phase II boiler. I can't imagine what a phase III would be like. I bet cleaning them would be a pita! I bet some type of catalyst will be in the newer phase III's.
