Fire Wood / Re: under the pile

I was cleaning up my processing area.  During the winter firewood cutting   I dumped my sawdust in a pile. I went to move the pile and it still had snow on the bottom.

Central Boiler / Re: maxim 250 putting info together
« on: May 19, 2015, 05:05:26 PM »
I bought a maxim 255 last oct.  installed in middle of November.   from Nov  to beginning of Jan I was using under 2 bags a day with factory settings.   when to cold hit Jan - March I had to raise the feed rate and blower speed 1 setting up to keep water at 175 degrees .  Making it use 3 bags a day. Seemed below 20 degrees I had to raise setting but that's what their for I guess.

I used clean fire pellets very little ash only cleaned stove Beverly 10 days in April I ran out of pellets and bought some Maine choice pellets and had to clean every 3 days  :bash:

Over all my wood boiler was more efficient used 6 cords for 5 years switched to pellet shove and used 8 tons!!  Girlfriend didn't like filling wood boiler stove when I was gone.  Maxim could run for 4-5 days depending on outside temp.
I always kept it full  when it got low on pellets you could feel  heat in the pellet bin so I felt if it was full it would keep the heat in the water tank better? My thought

There was a post on here a while back regarding burn back into the hopper, I think it was caused by a power outage, a battery backup with inverter or automatic generator might be a good idea!

They add  a door  now to prevent that comes with new stoves and can be added to older ones

Filter should be first as far as adapters you may have to use brass fitting to down size it.

I used a dryer vent brush on he tube only gets the loose stuff off havent figured out the sticky  stuff  yet!
Scotch bite b pads are what I used on the seal once a week.  When therewas build up on the pad just lift the outside edges around in a circle and the big chunks would flack off then use the scotch brite and it  will clean the rubber like new.  There like $4 for a couple of pads at walmart.

Was thinking of cutting the pipe off 2 feet above the flapper and sum how make a tee with the valve on the side and put a plug on the bottom so it could be opened and clean out.  That way there wount be build up on the valve. I  Haven't got there yet

Equipment / Re: Best chain sharpener?
« on: February 23, 2013, 07:31:15 PM »
i bought the Timberline chain sharpener  for my wood processor it works good i have to make 2 passes on each chain and the chains stay sharper longer then when i was sending them out .  just have to make sure it stays at same height  while sharping if it moves you got to start over.

i have a 511ax, save a edge files and also paided people.     Timberline chain sharpener  the chains cut better  and stay sharper longer  for me and my sharping skills.   i also have 14 chains  4 different sizes of chains  i got mine for $99 with thier prom code  i dont take it out in the woods with me still carry my trusty file but back at the shop its my best way i've found for me.

Plumbing / heat exhanger line /gas furness check flow valve
« on: October 08, 2012, 04:17:04 PM »
Hi i need a little help.  bought my house 10 years ago it had a gas furness and a indoor wood boiler.     after 5 years the indoor boiler rotted out so i capped off the connections.     last winter i got a owb install my lines right where the indoor furness was connected.

my probem is the flow of hot water is going down into the furness and back to the heat exchanger  in stead of going up and heating the house.  indoor boiler i didnt have this problem i used the same pump as before i took a pic dont now how it will show up here but to the right of the pic you will see a green valve that's the incoming hot water from the exchanger.  water comes in and gos down. path of least resistances.    what type of valve should i install between the furness and before the t fitting?   all the check valves ive looked at have plastic in them so im thinking maybe a zone valve???  need help thanks

The HE5000 does qualify for the tax credit.
It has been tested to HPA phase 2
I have signed a form for it.
