I like mine so far, seems to do the job ok .  It's not as nice as my buddy's Mahoning or my other buddy's  Central Boiler set up, but the Ridge cost much less and still makes my home warm. I've had it 3-4 years now and no trouble yet.  And I see the new Ridgewoods have what looks like diamond plated aluminum  for the top as apposed to painted sheet steel that mine has.    All in all, so far, so good ;D

Today's ridgewoods are much different than ones made several years ago, there all spray foamed now, insulated doors, just better all the way around.

First time I ever heard the words nice and Mahoning in the same sentence haha

I just went to their website.  Wow, they are cheap! They look like they are built pretty good, especially for the price.

Thrilled with everything from wood consumption to customer service above and beyond. Anybody that wouldn't consider this stove in that price range would be crazy! Most people don't believe me what I have invested in the whole package $5,200 turn key with concrete slab. I can't say enough how satisfied I am with my Ridgewood

free heat how far of a run do you have from your boiler to your house. Did you use the z-supply for your underground.

Ridgewood rocks! Well built, simple design and great price.  I put wood in....the water gets hot. ...house, shop, and DHW gets heated. Hmmmm.... just like the brands that cost 2+ times as much. With the money I saved, I built a 20' × 25' steel carport on a cement slab for a wood shed and stove shelter.

As soon as I get mind hook up, I will give a review. Craig was good to deal with and gave
me some advice on how to fill it.

Keep you posted.

Craig is a real good guy to deal with. I'm sure he will be glad they added his company to the list.

Simple, reliable and affordable. At $5550 total for install with concrete slab and machine rental, it will probably pay for itself twice this year alone due to very cold temps and skyrocketing lp prices. Heating two buildings +dhw. I was was just asked the other day by a man that was considering one if I would buy one again. That is actually a pretty serious question if you think about it. My answer? I'd do it again and again. Wood consumption seems to be right in line with others close by with similar loads demands. Builder is very accessible if you need him.

Do these stoves have a blower in the fire box or is it natural draft?

Looks like a solenoid-controlled natural draft.

Just like central boiler as far as draft

Wouldn't that be an issue for starting up again after calling for heat. I am totally new but I would have thought a blower feeding the fire box would be a much better system.

If you have a coal bed with it will be okay.  I set my differential at 7. Coal bed is the factor in warmer weather.

Think about central boiler, the world's largest boiler manufacturer don't use draft fans...   I'm not saying some models don't benefit from them

But if a fire wouldn't restart without a fan central would have never gotten off the ground or ridgewood..

Everyone I've sold a ridgewood to has been happy

It works fine.   The only time I had any trouble was burning ALL GREEN wood, cause I ran out of dry stuff one time.   Usually I mix any green stuff in with the dry.

6Pacmac  thanks for also reinforcing that  I'm feeling a lot more comfortable about that. How do you like not having no ash pan? are there wood grates in the fire box at all? The website doesn't have too much information or pictures on the stove.  Thanks

Well there is no ash grating of any kind.  It is just a big empty barrel inside, 36" wide by about 48ish" deep.   I clean mine out about every 2-3 weeks. I take out about 5-6 gallons of ash each time I clean it.   It's  pretty simple, just let it burn down abit to coals, rake the coals to the back, shovel out the fine ash in the front.   Then pull the coals back to the front, throw more wood in and you are good to go .  Hope this helps.

No draft fan in mine either, if I have to resort to green wood don't let your coal bed get low. I'll usually just add a couple pieces at a time thru the day.

I know it all varies but What's your guys wood usage on the ridgewood this past season? I ordered one and it should be delivered soon, woodshed is built, pipe in ground, about 15 cords in a pile outback from tree service. I'm ready for this stove!

Compared to past winters, this one has been brutal. Everyone is using more wood and many are running out. I figure I've used around 13-14 full cords this year. It does vary and depends on how well your home is insulated, how much you are heating, wood quality, etc. Bottom line is if your water stays warm, your draft door doesn't open.

So how did everyone's ridgewood do this season. My first season with my 6000 went great. Had no problems at all.

Not a lick of trouble during my first year. In fact I'm still running the stove at this time.

I got my stove on order. Craig says he will be calling sometime this week with the delivery date. Went with the z-supply double tile and going to run it through pvc like Scott suggested. Hope all goes well so I can give my official review.

I'm still in the market for one, I'm thinking 6000 I think I could get away with the 2000 but I rather not to fill it as often. I'm glad you guys had success with your Ridgewood stoves. I just have to get the money together for a stove.

Got my stove delivered yesterday. The delivery guy got his truck stuck in my yard because his 4wd wouldn't engage then he ran over my well stem with trailer which was out of the way from where I directed him to go then found out he forgot all the documents pertaining the the stove and the stove is missing the chimney restriction plate. Other than that the stove looks well made and Craig is taking care of the other miss happs. So far I'm stll happy stuff happens I guess and the costumer service so far is top notch.
