Title: Will Shaver be around after EPA Regs change
Post by: Ed165 on February 15, 2015, 09:37:37 AM
Does anybody know if Shaver will survive the new EPA Regulations on OWB? If they don't then what happens to the warranty?

I haven't seen nor heard a thing about Shaver looking into building a gasser. I will assume that they will continue to sell the same models that they do now with a 'Coal only' tag on them even though they will work just the same as they always have running either coal or wood. I assume they will also still sell their big log boilers which I believe are not covered under the EPA ruling. Hopefully the dealer for Shaver that lurks around here will be able to shed some light.

Exactly.
They have expedited bad behavior before, why would we expect anything different now. There are a number of states that have passed or will pass bills blocking state agencies from enforcing the epa mandate. This will give some cover for companies who wish to break federal law. Virginia is one of these states which is one of the reasons I closed down my company. I can't compete against "black market" conventional furnaces when I would be selling only gassifiers.

Lol actually Yoder didn't spell warranty, he quoted it.  Please tell me you can see the humor in tree climber's post?  Just look at what he has next to his brand name, it seems to me like he probably has experience with their warranty first hand.

Your right it was tree climber.
He must still have that Shaver Furnace though, and one heck of a water bill by now! $$$ LOL

No plan yet? This goes in into affect in 60 days, it takes years to develop and has a gasifier tested. I guess that answers the question fairly clearly.
