Same here I can burn 30" stuff and as big as the door but for the most time I burn shorter smaller stuff. Much easier on me and I don't have to shove huge pieces in causing the walls on my hardy to dent or rupture..

You can have an x-Ray done or a UT test done, they would probably be expensive! We use both methods at work in a coal fired boiler. The UT test is just a probe that measures metal thickness. It would take some time just grid your water jacket off and go. The metal needs to be clean though. Neither test is practical though for the home owner I'm guessing..

Hardy H-4 installed March of 2012. No problems as of now.

HeatMaster / Re: C series VS E series

Call Ernie Fry here outside Coshocton Ohio. I was there this evening taking a look at the headmaster. His number is 1-740-328-1084. He was telling me the "C" series is basically an "e" series? I really like the e series.. Compared to my hardy I really liked them. Now I'm trying to talk my wife into it...

There are a lot of people around here who buy wood. I have never bought wood as slot of people know I have the OWB and ask me to take trees down, but to each his own. A guy I work with just put in a Hardy H25 and buys wood to get caught up and he said his electric bill was 900 dollars the month prior. Even at buying wood it would still be cheaper than electric.

Not only that but there is still emissions once coal and wood is gone they will be all over gas. I was watching a show the other day a lady was complaining about coal mining and how it's bad for the environment. She said we need wind and solar power but she was piloting her own plain! Makes no sense.

That pic was pre scrubbers.. I know a lot of older people here that grew up burning coal. Some still do but not many. I enjoy coal. It has a little more smoke than wood but just for a cycle or two. I know around here there are no restrictions on OWBs burning coal but the wood rules are coming. Doesn't make much sense? The power plant I work at is coal fired ans the EPA (Obama) is trying their best to stop power production from coal as gas is so much better...

There are bigger things to worry about, like the forest fires I know most are done on purpose all though my local DNR sets fires on purpose. Are they going to ban that?

Well I have some good news! I moved my thermocoupler to the brass fitting where the supply goes into my coil in the furnace, I was surprised at the results. The water temp maxed out at 182 and the furnace shut off. Now according to that my Honeywell aquastat is right on, I have it set on 180-185 it's kind of hard to see exactly what it's on on the cheap dial. Now I believe my screw in thermometer is off, at least I know I'm not losing a lot of heat in the ground. If I'm losing anything it's only a couple degrees of any. I'm going to the great Harbor Freight today and I'm going to look for a laser thermometer and a moisture meter. I'm going to also get batteries and check the supply and return on my coil.. Either way I'm happy with the results! I'll post on here when I get the reading of the return.. Thanks for all of the info, I didn't know it was that hard to get a reading on the lex. I also isolated the point on the fitting to help with the true reading.

How would they police that? Would they knock on your door and make you stop using it? I hope it doesn't come to that.. If they do that will they pay for a new way of heating?
